I'm irish on my dad's side so we like to celebrate it
It was a drinking holiday long ago, too. It's a saints day, which means a feast is required, but falls during lent. The Church lifts the Lent ban for a day to allow for a feast, and the first thing people reached for was their beer and wine.St Patrick's Day in the US is just like New Year's Eve, Cinco De Mayo, Independence Day, and Labor Day - an excuse to get drunk.
Personally, I don't drink, so I do absolutely nothing. I do have Irish ancestors, however, this was originally a very Christian feast day. I'm not religious at all so... yeah.
