hey guys! i watched a video on the marketing for this and why so many people were disappointed by that, but i was wondering if the game itself is fun? it looks like my style

if you have an opinion on it, let me know! i'm really considering getting it c:

I think people were disappointed by it because it is not the crossover they expected.
I like the game but I can understand a fan of Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei would not enjoy as much a game with such light-hearted tones.
Fire Emblem is, letting aside all the fanservice of the years Tokyo Mirage Session came out, a series about the horror of war, a strategy game where one wrong move can cost you the life of a unit; Shin Megami Tensei is a dark series about demons and gods, and there's really nothing much about those dark themes in the crossover.
Plus the game is basically have the gameplay of a SMT, and there's literally nothing about Fire Emblem. You have "classes", yes, but that's more like Persona evolution in the Persona series (wich is a SMT Spin-off).
Shin Megami Tensei fans were disappointed by the plot and settings, Fire Emblem fans by the gameplay.

During 2019 the game was kind of accepted, in particoular by Fire Emblem fans. I was part of that community and I can say after the release of Fire Emblem Heroes the fanbase got so big it had enough space for Tokyo Mirage fans too, and that's probably why the game got ported to Switch in 2020.

I did not played the game but I think it is pretty solid, if you don't expect too much from it.

As someone who isn't into either series, I had a lot of fun with the game. If being bombarded with anime tropes doesn't scare you off, it's definitely worth it.

I really need to finish it sometime.

I’m not a hardcore fan of either series (I’ve played some games in each franchise) so I think that helped me enjoy the game more? If you think of it as a standalone game instead of a crossover game you’ll definitely be less disappointed if you’re a fan of either series

I personally really liked the game but it is super heavy anime tropey if that’s within your tastes. I thought it was really cute but the combat can get a bit repetitive! I love the music in the game (reincarnation & dream catcher are my favs) and I liked the idol storyline ❤️

Huge Fire Emblem fan here and the time I’ve had to play it it was quite fun. As others have said there’s not a lot of fire emblem elements in it. It mostly contains nods to the series here and there like the series theme sneaks in at least once and of course the mirages being based on Fire Emblem characters.

I still need to get back into playing this game when I have some spare time to know how much I really like it. That being said, I feel like as long as you don’t go in expecting a Fire Emblem or SMT type game and expect more of a unique standalone title with nods to each series then it should be enjoyable to you.
