I know it's mostly nostalgia talking but I absolutely adore toon Zelda games. If you haven't guessed by now, I very much love the cartoon style/atmosphere and it's one of the reasons why I watch so much anime. Growing up I would constantly play and replay Zelda games with my sister and these games solely consisted of the toon graphics. Since then, I grew a passion for both Zelda games and the cartoon look. I have definitely tried the non-toon games and while I did enjoy them, they never did have that same impact the toon ones gave.
Some of my absolute favorites would be Minish Cap, Spirit Tracks and A Link Between worlds. All 3 of these games incorporate the toon style and uses it to make some rather amazing stories. A Link Between Worlds, for example, used the cartoon look to help display the painting morphing aspect to a whole new level. Sure it could have been accomplished without the toon style, but the toon style helps further express it. It's this type of expressiveness that artists cant make when trying to go for a realistic look. That's one of the reasons why the cartoon style and Toon Link will continue to forever be my favorite.
Now that I've shared my feelings about Toon Link, I'd like to hear yours. Do you like cartoon style? What's your favorite toon Zelda games? And what's something that really stood out to you in a toon Zelda game that you think could only exist because of the art style choice?
I loved to hear your guy's inputs!
