I'm glad there are people enjoying it, but for me it's bittersweet that we'll most likely never get another traditional Zelda game again. Traditional in the sense of dungeons, weapons and honestly, personality. I'm talking about games before the era of the new Zelda formula, which began with BotW. In which there's a lot of "menuing" going on, lots of scrolling, unlimited healing, materials, etc.
I was mainly happy for this game because it was awesome to see the Link's Awakening 2019 chibi graphics style again, I really thought they'd never go in that direction a second time. I love it, I think it's adorable and charming.
But the more I saw, the more I realized it's pretty much BotW/TotK but chibi. May as well be called "Echoes of the Wild" lol not that it's a bad thing, but at the same time, not really a great thing, either.
I ended up not picking up this game, which is so surreal to me as I used to be so excited for new Zelda games that it was all I would think about. You should have seen me back in the GameCube age, I was crazy about Wind Waker and Twilight Princess
but I just can't get crazy about Zelda anymore. It makes me sad. It doesn't help that I'm currently playing Skyward Sword, the last traditional Zelda we got before the big transition into open world.
But even Skyward Sword, as linear as it is, showed the early signs that Nintendo wanted to implement grander, more ambitious ideas. In that game, you collect bugs and treasure in order to craft, upgrade and enhance shields, potions, etc. And not to mention, the introduction of the Stamina Wheel.
