Hello everyone, Toy Day is almost here and that means the gift exchange is also going to happen soon. A feature grossly overlooked, the gift exchange is one of my favorite activities of a special event on NH and Zucker and I'd like to know if you all are ready?

These weeks have been a bit chaotic irl, so I'm only starting to prepare now- which means I can order exactly 10 items from the Nook Shopping app if necessary. I still don't know what kind of items I'm giving to the residents of Mirage, but I'm planning to give them brand new items from the 2.0 update. With over 700 items to choose from (well, much less as I'm nowhere near a complete catalog), the task to choose the perfect gift is not easy, and like Boots, I'm running into some trouble.

The recent updates have made gifting easier than ever, thanks to the ability to remove an unwanted clothing item from their wardrobes and being able to redesign their homes (if you have the DLC). By the time the first Toy Day rolled around, I didn't care about ugly houses or ugly clothing anymore, but I still make an effort to think of something that will actually suit the taste of the residents or will look great on them/their homes. Chadder and Mathilda have kindly put the pressure on me, as their expectatives are quite high... (of course these little rascals will love any kind of wrapped fruit, but I love the lifesim aspect too much)

Here's what I'm thinking about:

Boots - Something farm related, maybe the tractor? He'll get swole driving that, I guess.
Renée - So many houseplants to choose from, the potted starter plants with actual flowers blooming is my current favorite.
Melba - Either the strapped books or the scrapbook.
Bianca - I want to give her something castle related but the items won't go well inside her house, so I'll probably go with something from the moss/vine set.
Zucker - Just the tastiest food recipe I can find. He'll be happy.
Chadder - One of the items from the Cool set, maybe the chair so he can finally sit on something other than his toilets.
Antonio - I'd love to gift him the baseball set or the inflatable bird ring!
Angus - I'm probably gonna cheat on the 2.0 items and craft him a bonsai shelf.
Mathilda - The not-Barbie doll is probably my go-to gift for her, will choose a nice variant.
Julia - Maybe the afternoon-tea set, is the kind of fancy thing she could have.

So, what are you gifting? Do you have everything ready or are you making some last-minute shopping/crafting? What do you think about the gift exchange overall? Feel free to roast my gift choices or suggest something better I hope all of you enjoy Toy Day (and your equivalent irl festivities).

i'm actually in april right now, and tt'ing forward several times a day! But i'm looking forward to toy day and am definitely gonna be picking stuff out specifically for my residents. I wanna get Coach something sporty, Merengue and Renee are getting something for their houses, I'd love to get them something from the cute or dreamy sets! Pinky is getting the papa panda! Because it matches her, lol.

I am just going to give them packs of fruit, pumpkins, and maybe some of the new crops in wrapped gifts.

Tbh I'm not giving them anything. My holiday season irl is pretty dang crappy, so I'm not in the festive mood at all and can't really be bothered to buy stuff for them.

I won’t be able to play on Toy Day and I don’t time travel. Instead, I’ve given all of them new clothing over the past few weeks.

I just realized that my work schedule along with going to my parents after isn't really going to be very conducive for Toy Day. But I suppose I should be able to play there. It'll just be later than I would like... though I can always rewind time a few hours if I'd rather.

To be honest, I haven't done anything yet in preparation for giving my villagers any gifts. I guess I should probably do that. Last year I didn't give them anything, besides what I gave them from Jingle. But I do want to do so this year. The only villager I still have from last year is Merry, so she's the only one that is probably going to be giving me the side eye until I finally offer her a gift. But here's what I'm thinking...

Merry: Ironwood Dresser (Oak)
Fang: Log Bed
Rolf: Ironwood Bed (Birch w/ Blue-gray Bedding)
Julian: Shell Fountain (White)
Purrl: Bamboo Sphere (Smoke-cured)
Amelia: Classic Pitcher (Yellow Amber)
Billy: Wooden Table (Light wood)
Bluebear: Wooden Block Stool (Pastel)
Bettina: Ironwood Chair (Oak)
Jacob: Log Chair

Villagers that have music players are getting Casablanca Lilies.
One Villager is getting the Sanrio Hallway bench.
All the other ones are getting a Wooden Music Box.

Extra Players are giving Fruit.

I'll just give them stacks of vegetables or clothes since it doesn't really matter what you give them because the mechanics have been changed.

I really don't know!

I think I'm gonna gift my favorite villagers something really special. But the others are getting fruit or miscellaneous crops LOL

For Zucker, I wanted to get him something involving food but I'm not sure yet ;v;

The best present to give them (wrapped) is identified fossils. If you don't want to make them redecorate, as they don't use fossils in their houses unlike previous games. Otherwise any furniture works too. You can also look up gift ideas for clothing on https://nookplaza.net/ in the Tools menu.

Which mechanics changed? Think I missed something.

I was probably just going to buy them toys from last year's toy list. I think I recall some new dialogue if you gave them a toy last year, but I don't know if that's changed.

I'm just going to give them vegetables. I got the DLC so I know I can change their house or what theyre wearing. Its just...I have so many vegetables at the moment and I need to get rid of them somehow, so I guess making them into Christmas presents will be convenient without spending too many Bells.

I was simply referring to how we have the whole December to identify the presents that our villagers want in previous games.

I want able to buy personalized gifts for them and I kinda dont want to time travel either so I'll give them whatever I have in my storage and they'll just have to take it lol

I use a site called Nook Plaza to find gifts for my villagers. You type your villagers name in and it gives all clothing items they would like. I go through and find items I think would look good on them(and that I either already have or can order). The onee exception is Molly, I am giving her a scrapbook cause it seems like something she'd like.
