So I'm wondering what the trolling potential of this new game will be. Obviously, I have no clue what the game is like yet, but I'm wondering what the Switch is capable of.

For example, the original 3DS had the Wi-fi switch on the side, so you could easily error whenever. This was a gift to trolling, and I'll always regret selling my old 3DS.

I'd imagine that you'd still be able to "trap" other players in corners like you were able to on the island, but that's something that I'll have to wait and see for. On the downside, I pretty sure once Nintendo becomes aware of people abusing the software/hardware for trolling purposes, they'll force an update on them, and that's fair.

What do you think?

I mean, I got trolled so many times I learned that I can only trust people with good wifi ratings or good friends. Other people I'll have to either watch or flip the wifi switch off when they're done 'exploring' my town.

I didn't even know this was such an issue with Animal Crossing O-O

I never had any bad experiences online and the few people who I friended on the island before they blocked the ability to message friend codes easily where really nice when they visited.

I'd like to think I'll have the same experience as New Leaf online with the new AC, but I guess in saying that if you experienced bad stuff itll probs be the same sadly :(

Hopefully everyone manages to avoid any bad players online.

the idea of trolling is too awkward and slightly pathetic so i dont go out of my way to do it. some people assemble a whole trade for an item or villager, show up, and just run around and ruin stuff like an idiot. i hope theres an option on the switch game that lets you monitor what the person does (notifications for if they picked something up in that moment

i have noooooooooooo tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime for trolls

erroring anytime was really annoying, especially if i was talking to a bunch of people on the island but it also had a huge upside for me. i used to let people in my town and to no surprise id find things missing a lot, so id just error and remove the person and there'd be no harm done. i dont want erroring to be a thing in the switch though since i only let friends & trustworthy people on here in my town now

People can be really mean and cruel when it comes to online play, for some reason. When ACWW came out the big thing was seeding and bricking. Getting kicked from the island is nowhere near as bad as that imo.

I'm hoping that they'll introduce ways we can protect our towns, maybe make it so they can only pick things up that are dropped in a certain area or put preferences for what friends can do in your town before you let them in...

What is seeding and bricking?

Seeds are hacked-in items that you can use to spawn things like buildings and rocks and people would put them in places that would prevent you from entering buildings or even starting the game if there were too many to load. That's what bricking is - being unable to even start your town or even your game or system.

Oh OK, thank you. The things that amuse some people are very odd.
