So I learned about after restarting several times on the 2nd island that there is a pattern villager personality you get at the beginning. So if you want to find specific villagers this is going to be helpful. I learned the starter villagers you get always start with Jock and Sisterly, the 3 starter homes are Lazy, Peppy, and Normal, and lastly the 6th villager to move in from the campsite is smug and sometimes snooty. I should note that whoever you get will always stay in this case I got Shep which I already had him on Twilight before it was deleted and I got his photo so I wasn't too keen.

Then of course you have the last 4 plots you can put down when you want to start villager hunting. It makes it easier to plan out when you want to villager hunt and when to get that one villager you still want to find. One last thing I learned that you can use your nook mile tickets by day one when the airport opens, so I was able to use 10 nmts I sent over to the new user. You can pick out 3 villagers you want before you place down their home plots. Just thought I would put this out there for those who still are trying to look for villagers that are from the personality you are looking for.

I wasn’t aware you could get a snooty as the campsite villager. I’ve heard of them always being smug. My two starters were Cherry and Goose. My three move ins were Lily, Sherb, and Cookie. My campsite villager was Marshal. My luck at the beginning was insane, because these were my very first try. I didn’t reset. I was able to trade all of these villagers (minus Goose, sorry Goose 😭🥺) for villagers I wanted. Now, my dream island is complete.

Ironically, I was looking for Shep! I traded my Marshal for Shep, actually.

It can and it can't be
I didnt believe it as I had never seen or heard of it.
But apparently there is a glitch, that may or may not be fixed right now (no clue), which means on very rare occasions, your first campsite villager may not be a smug.
The camper will say the same unique dialogue that your first smug says while at the campsite, and Tom nook will refer to them as a he

And like I said before whoever you get as your first campsite villager you have no other choice but to invite them. There is no way to change them. I wanted to try to see if I can get a different smug villager but I got Shep again the next day, kept trying everything but I had to invite him.

Thankfully I like - love every single smug villager so will always be happy... nearly always.

I would cry if I ever got stuck with olaf.
Hes the worst.
Like, bottom 20 villagers in the whole game kinda worst.
