Should all or almost all items be orderable from the catalog?

Do you think we should finally get rid of restrictions of ordering items from the catalog and make all items orderable from the catalog?

I?m more in favor of making these items purchasable. Some stuff like the Snowman Series and Cardboard Set are nearly impossible to get by just trying to find them, and the fact that you can?t re-order them from the catalog shows that they can?t really be obtained. The Mush Series and Ice Series may be un-orderable, but at least you can get multiple items of the same easily without cheating. In addition, the new Welcome amiibo items can?t be ordered from the catalog. Only at the Campground. Due to how it?s impossible to get new amiibo cards these days thanks to their failing sales, you can only obtain these items by visiting other towns if you don?t have the card.

I?m not fully in favor of making all objects orderable though. Stuff like the ABD, trophies, and HHA prizes should not be orderable from the catalog since they are technically awards, but they should be formatted the same way mannequins are, meaning that they are un-disposable, impossible to sell at the Re-Tail, and not possible to drop in town. But seasonal items, the new items from Welcome amiibo, and Saharah?s carpets and wallpaper, should be orderable. The Gulliver items and the HHN challenge items are already orderable anyway.

It would be great if that would happen, but I don't really expect it unfortunately. :(

getting rid of the restrictions sounds nice but honestly i kinda like the idea of things like the cardboard series being unorderable! it makes em special :p i wouldn't really mind if the restrictions were removed though!

Yes! But definitely anything that has been given to you as a reward or is canonically supposed to be unique (villager pics) shouldn't be orderable because realistically how would they end up being mass-produced by a company? XD

To everyone who posted in this forum:

Congratulations! You all have won an Oscar! The factory is going to produce Academy awards for everyone.

On a serious note, I agree with this, hence why I suggested that HHA prizes shouldn’t be orderable while holiday items should.

Nice. xD

Also I've always wondered how buying clothing from the Able Sisters ended up making it orderable by Nook's catalogue... Would anyone find it too annoying to have to go to the Able Sisters' shop to order clothes or would that be an okay change to people?

I want for this to happen so very badly. I hate not being able to order some things I want for my town even though they are IN MY CATALOG. Why even put them there if we can't reorder them? It's terrible.

I don't know, I kinda like it that there items which are harder to get then others and that those
are also unorderable. It's like a little challenge where you have to collect them all bit for bit and
I find this quite nice to be honest. Would be kinda boring if you could so easy fill your catalog
since there wouldn't be so many unorderable items at all anymore.

I personally think that most of the unorderable items can remain unorderable, like any furniture/clothes from Graciegrace and event/holiday furniture, since imo that makes them more special.

Now some things, like the lawn mower in ACGC, have no reason to be unorderable. Wasn't there like a glitch in New Leaf where you couldn't order the sprinkler for some reason? Common items like that should be able to be ordered, but special stuff shouldn't.

Maybe a compromise could be being able to order the special items for yourself but simply picking them up from another player won't immediately add them to someone else's catalogue? So in order to have them re-orderable you have to earn them in the correct way.

i get the appeal of being able to order everything, but i think "exclusive" things like gracie's stuff and the cardboard set make sense that they're not orderable. i kind of like the idea of having to get things from friends, too

Or maybe, they should lower the bar to get some of these items or let us choose on the others. Take for instance, the Snowman Series has extremely high expectations to get. Even if you are almost perfect (like 90% to 99%), you don’t get the Snowman items, which makes me think that they are ungrateful spoiled brats. If they expect less out of our snowman building skills, that would be good.

If you oppose making almost all items orderable, do you think it is a good idea to make the Snowman Series and Sloppy Series easier to obtain?

Inorderables is what allows them to make special reward items without resorting to paid DLC, honestly. Nintendo also doesn't want to trivialize their own holidays, the fortune cookies, the special characters etc because reordering would drastically lower the time investment and attachment we have to those sources. There's very few items that you can genuinely only get once anyway.

There's way, way too many unorderable items in New Leaf. The amount as it was in the base game was ridiculous, but most of the new update things are unorderable too. It causes me major storage problems, because I like to have the items around in case I might want to use them.

I hope they really reduce the number of unorderables. I don't see them eliminating unorderables, but they should make it a LOT less.

Heck, they should give us a lot more storage space too.

idk i like the thought of mystery items and stuff like that plus this would take away from the trading feature which animal crossing is all about

I like that certain items are unorderable and hard to get. I like having something to work for. And if I miss seasonal items on the first go round I can try to get them next year. It keeps the game from getting boring.

I voted no, as again, some items should just be harder to get and thus I prize those more, but I really think that if Nintendo is going to bring the 7-11 DLC back, it should be reorderable.

@DJ yeah, the majority of the WA items should have been orderable. I liked the daily mission esque element they were adding with the MEOW coupons, but since there's so many Campground items getting any one in the catalogue is enough value out of them. It isn't even a good way to prevent amiibo items being traded to people who didn't buy it themselves, since you get unlimited scans...

I really hope the 7-11 DLC comes back. I like it a LOT. I liked that they included it in HHD and that they made new items for HHD and the NL update.

I don't see them making it re-orderable though. In Japan, people actually had to visit 7-11 to get it (in both NL and HHD). The thought behind real life store DLC is hoping that people will buy something else while they're there. They will probably make it non-orderable, if it's included, to do that again.

The better thing is to make it easier for people outside of Japan to get it.Then it being non-orderable will be less of a problem.

* For those who didn't know: None of the NL 7-11 stuff was ever released outside of Japan. You can only get it through trading. Part of the 7-11 set was released outside of Japan for HHD (it was released at McDonald's, actually), but all of the items that had the 7-11 logo were excluded outside of Japan. You could get the rest of the pieces by someone saving them on an amiibo card and then scanning it with your game.

I like some things being unique and not orderable.

However a nice compromise could be that they are not orderable with bells, but with a new unique currency that you have to earn similar to MEOW coupons. This still keeps the items rare but makes them more accessible.
