what are your thoughts on ppl accessorizing eastern asian languages?? or any other language that is looked upon as an ~*~amazing!~*~ language in where you live?
in here, turkish, english and korean is the rage. ppl r so obsessed w/ them they use random words or even speak in said languages whenever conversing, it's insanely cringey and i hate it how some of my fellow classmates fetishize turkish and koreans, it's disgusting.

Is this real?

Your classmates are probably practicing speaking those languages just for the fun, I don't see the problem.

I personally don't have a problem with people using certain words in other languages.. I speak Tagalog, and I often times teach my English speaking friends some choice words that I think are funny, or amusing, or would just be useful to them. I don't think it is considered "fetishising" a language.. It shows people are curious about learning other languages or are just fascinated with it. Is that really so wrong?

I dislike it too. Especially when they use the words completely wrong.
I learned Japanese in university because I was interested in the languages, but when anime fans start using random terms around me it really annoys me. Same for my friends who like koop and just throw random Korean words in the conversation. That's just annoying and weird, especially when you're not talking to someone who knows Korean.
I now live in japan and they do the same with English words though (though only when talking to me as I'm foreign) and that's just as annoying. Because they only sub easy words for English and leave difficult ones in Japanese. Just keep everything Japanese then xD

one of my friends had a girlfriend who was a huge fan of kpop & would just talk about how korean boys are so attractive & tried to speak the language all the time. it's not disgusting. but people like that annoy me

i don't think i really have a opinion on that type of thing. i don't run into people like that very often, but while i find it a tad anoying, i don't really find it 'disgusting' or anything extreme like that

I can see how it can definitely be annoying, depending on how people are using it. However, it isn't wrong from a moral standpoint and it really isn't fetishising. But I do agree that it can be irritating to be around someone who uses random words in other languages, but it's the same as if they always said, "like, totally, oh my god" all the time. Repetition is just annoying.

I like laughing at non-Arabic speakers saying stuff like hummus, habibi, baba ghanoush, etc. but I don't really care if they do. I don't think my culture gets fetishized all too much cuz it kinda sucks?? But there r some things about it that annoy me when people find small aspects of it "trendy" after they hated it so much when I was younger (mainly the food part of it)

I hate ppl who mix in basic Japanese words in English. I sumtimes do it ironically except for when I refer to the style of art ppl call kawaii art

Only if they don't actually speak Japanese and only anime tho

theyre not?? do you know what a koreabbo is? if you do then that's what they are.
i won't mind it if someone is practicing the language but using random korean words when talking to a friend who doesn't even understand korean is cringey
and to elaborate : they fetishize koreans/turkish as in they go to the extremes of wanting to **** them, etc. sorry if i confused some..

It's just language. If what the person wants to communicate is successfully done, what does it matter?

It kinda is. =P

Honestly I thought you were exaggerating at times, but if you consider them a 'koreaboo' then they most be immensely annoying.

yh, sorry if i sounded pretty stupid and vague myself in the post, and thats what i originally meant when making this post : koreabbos and weabbos exaggerating and whatnot.

I do that w English, I mean, English is pretty popular in Spain and even though I always talk w my friends in spanish I usually rant/think in English, which kinda sounds cringy when you mix it with Spanish

If you're doing it in a weeb / koreeb way, then that's just cringy, but I don't mind mixing foreign words into a language as such....like....in a non-serious way................idk lmao

People do the same thing in other languages. Do you have any idea how many English loanwords are used in everyday conversation in Korean? Source: My mother is Korean

Lmao? I do that all the time when I speak with a friend that speaks the same language as I do, it's funnnnnn. Americans are always gonna get mad with their xenophobic asses because they think mixing foreign language words into English is bad and not "American", and that the "American" way is the best. lol

why did op get banned....

Hmm probably an alt

I don't think of any languages as amazing or beautiful. Language is meant to communicate and I prefer efficiency over how pretty a language might look or sound. Japanese text looks cool, but there are way too many letters. I'm not an expert on other languages, but English is pretty bad with all of it's weird spellings and sounds and it's a difficult language for non-native speakers to learn.
