I agree with that soup-addict, pinecone2654.

It was remotely dissapointing, and I don't really know who Nintendo thinks they're fooling.

So many things were messed with, that shouldn't have been messed with.

The townsfolk have less of a brain then they ever did, there was no original music besides the 2 City Songs...

...and the bell-rocks don't even turn red anymore. ) =

But, it isn't un-playable. I'm still playing it pretty often. With the magic of the "mute" button, and the power of the Animal Crossing GC soundtrack on iTunes...maybe we can make this work.

You know what the funny thing is, though? The more I play this game, the more I want to play the old one...
lol, dude that's not good...city folk is meant to be the best of the 3

Yeah. I didnt play WW, but i played the GC eddition; Animal Crossing Population Growing AKA AC:pG. Eventually my town got messed up, and i started a new one. I didnt feel like working the way back, so i cheated (a bit -.-). I just wanna start a new game. AC:CF is a great replacement... how can you say its worse? Its like WW+PG+a city+ some extra things... Well, if you dont know about AC, and u wanna get a game, CF is the best way to go. Pretty much all they did was let Wi Fi, make all features in one, and add a city.

Apparently, the raters, (IGN, EuroGamer, 1UP, Cheat Code Central..etc.) all rated Animal Crossing City Folk lower than the its predecessors just because it seems to be a combination of both. Isn't that disheartening to new players, who just want to check out the rating, and find it an average of 7.4 or so out of 10??

Hmmmm sounds good. Can't wait to get it. Is the music that bad? :smilecry:
The music isnt bad, its just the same, if you loved WWs music so much that you dont mind hearing it for a second playthrough, then itll be great for you. I just would've preferred some fresh material as to Nintendo taking the lazy way out and just copy and pasting the music over from wild world.

I don't own the game yet, but based on what I've heard I'd rate it a bit lower than IGN rated it...the biggest blow for me was only one town per Wii...that's like a bullet wound.

And what's all this about the villagers being dumbed down? Do they still have personalities and different sleep-wake times like they did in former games?

They do. There's just less chatting options with them.

Really? that's stupid...i thought u could play hide-and-seek or something
I read in Nintendo Power that there's an initial hide-and-seek game to get the user used to their town... Hopefully they still happen spontaneously, but you can always play games with your sentient visitors, providing you have quick/effective means of communication like Wii speak.

Wii speak, the predecessor to the soon-to-be-huge Wii soup

...how can there be less chatting options? There was only talk and nevermind in WW.

I haven't played this game yet, but from what I read it isn't junk.
Of course I'd love original music, but I don't think WW's music is bad.
And I don't think you should throw your ACWW game cartrige on the trash, it is cool because you can play anywhere.
I live in Brasil, and city folk only arrives here November 30th, I'm waiting anxiously to play it.

Sometimes they don't even ask for 'Let's Chat' and there is no nevermind option now.

Graphics: 8/10- They really improved on Animal crossings formula for graphics, without taking away from the cute appeal that it keeps, some things look painfully 2d though

Sound: 6/10- Completely unoriginal soundtrack, im quite disappointed, the city and such have new music, but overall its just a WW rehash, on the upside more actual gameplay sounds have been added here and there

Gameplay:9/10- Classic Animal Crossing, though they brought back the holidays from Gamecube, added some, and took some Wild world ones too, theres many more events now

Playability:9/10- With WiiSpeak, Wifi, dozens of holidays and events, and downloadable content on its way, if you play the game the way it was meant to be played, youll have fun with it for a long time.

Closing comment: The game really is a combination of the Gamecube one and Wild World, with a few tweaks here and there, if you were a fan of the first two, its worth a look, if you've never played Animal Crossing, this is also a great time to jump into the series. The rehasing is a bit of a disappointment, but the big fans of AC can look past it and find the new content and smooth wifi will certainly make it its own game as well.
great review, agree hundred percent, Is there really going to be dl content? I never heard of this and how are u going to be able to dl? Off the Wii Shop Channel?

i dont have a problem with 2D but theyre getting there though the fruits are 3D now!

Yes Nintendo have Confirmed Download Content for City Folk. You will not be buying it through the shopping channel. Instead it will be sent through the Wii connect 24 and suddenly Knook or Gracie or possibly Red will be selling the new stuff.
