What are TBT used for exactly? I know you can buy items and things to go next to your profile, but is there some functionality that is gained on the website?

Also, is there only a set amount of TBT on the website and are TBT subject to inflation?

Thanks.

You can use TBT to buy in game bells, art, pokemon, collectibles, acnl items, and more. :)

There's no additional functionality for TBT other than using it to buy the previously mentioned items. By "set amount of TBT on the website", are you asking if there's a vault of TBT that will eventually run out or if there's a set amount that any given user can have? Either way, no. TBT just disappears when you spend it and there's no cap on how much you can have or how much will be distributed. :)

TBT is definitely subject to inflation as far as the TBT/IGB conversion rate. I don't know what it's at now, but last I checked it was over 10 million IGB per 100 TBT, whereas it was just over 500k IGB per 100 TBT back when I joined.

I guess what I'm pointing out is that what makes no sense to me is that people seem to earn TBT each day, and there is no limit to how much is being produced. However, it surprises me that there is inflation going from TBT to IGB. I thought it would have been the other way around, especially since the TBT function as a way to improve in-game experience.

I think that people seem to have two types of thought processes based on which type of pseudo-currency they value more. Personally for me, I feel that IGB are worth more because I think the currency's value is applied more in-game. However, if people play games across multiple games/platforms, it makes sense to have a currency such as TBT for in-game improvements across many different games.

The main point of my question was primarily to provoke discussion about this pseudo-currency. I hope that whoever reads this appreciates my message.

I am still confused of its purpose if you can earn tbt just by posting, I do not see why it is worth so much value for igb... but I am not complaining. I need lots of in game bells at the moment, so I would be happy to use the system once I figure it out.

As far as pseudo currency goes... It's up to the person. I know lots of people who actually spend real money for virtual items to redeem in a game. I guess it depends how much devotion you have to the game. I used to do it for subeta to have membership perks. The ratio for the clothing I could not justify though,, it came out to spending $4 for one piece of virtual clothing people designed.

I totally agree with you! I see you just got your "welcome" TBT too and are probably wondering what to spend them on (like me!)

It's worth so much because for every 1TBT you have you have 200,000 AC Bells. The reason it's worth more is because AC Bells are available in huge amounts (turnips, cloning, hacking, ect.) and the fact that there's only so much you can spend on. Eventually you'll buy everything you want and won't care about Bells, which just means more Bells to be thrown into the pile.

TBT on the other hand can be spent on any type of game, really, which allows for a constant demand to be in place. And even though it's infinite, it's not like you can generate 20,000,000 in a few seconds. It still takes time to actually "create" TBT.

So, while technically all you can do with TBT is just send it to others or buy collectibles, you can still give it to other users and use it to buy a bunch of different stuff for other games where there's still demand.
