Yesterday, I got my VASE scores.
In case you didn't know, VASE is this big art competition. It's super serious. There were lots of people there and Dairy Queen funded it (I think).
The max score you could get was a 60.
On my first piece (actually the second I brought up there) "Meiji", which was 2D watercolour and ink (complete with the Iroha poem) got 55/60. I was lucky to get a judge that like Japanese and Asian things, since it depicted such a scene.
On my second piece "Monochrome", a 3D clay sculpture with a wood base, got 60/60. The judge apparently loved how well I worked with slabs, as she said that it looked like wood. She asked me lots of questions about it (it's based on a story I have in the works) and I had to make up stuff on the spot.
I didn't advance to state, however. A boy from a different teacher, named Andres, did, which is nice for him. Medals haven't been mailed out yet, but they will soon.
Speaking of art, we're making piggy banks. I'm making one of Lloid except the top part can come off, so I don't have to seal it and put ugly coin slots on the top and bottom.
