Happy Valentine's Day Week! To celebrate this love-filled holiday we want to host a party with all our TBT friends. However, we didn't have time to decorate. Maybe you can help with that? Please help us fill this thread with Valentine's themed decor! 💝

Task 💕

Your task in this event is to help us set-up for our Valentine's Party! You can help us do this by submitting an entry to one of our three creative categories: 2D Crafts, 3D Crafts, or Sweets - or, if you're feeling super devoted, you may enter all three!

Important note: Staff Favourites will be voted on by category. For this reason, it is important you declare which category you are submitting for. If submitting a second or third entry, please declare this in your post as well.

Rules 💕

General:
  • Entries must be your own work.
  • Entries must fit our Valentine's Party theme.
  • No collaborative projects.
  • A reasonable amount of effort should be put into your creations. Submissions that appear rushed or made as a joke won't be accepted.
  • All entries submitted are final. Please do not edit your entry after submission unless asked to by a staff member.
  • Your username must be visible somewhere in your submission.
  • Keep all creations appropriate for a PG-13 audience.
  • You may only submit one entry per category, but you may enter in all three categories.

Category: 2D Crafts:
  • Examples of 2D crafts: cards, invitations, bunting, etc.
  • You can use craft supplies but cannot use other people's work or any other pre-made components.
  • This category accepts both physical and digital submissions.

Category: 3D Crafts:
  • Examples of 3D crafts: crochet, model clay, wood carving, pottery, etc.
  • You can use craft supplies but cannot use other people's work or any other pre-made components.
  • This category only accepts physical submissions.

Category: Sweets
  • Examples of Sweets: cakes, cookies, pies, homemade candy/chocolate, etc.
  • Must be made from edible ingredients.
  • Cannot be store-bought; although you may use box mix, pre-made icing, and (edible) cake decorations.
  • This category only accepts physical submissions.

For all categories we encourage taking progress pictures as you go along just in case your entry is so flawless we have to question if you really made it!

How to Submit 💕

Submit your entry by posting it in this thread by 11:59PM EST on February 16th 2025. Your TBT username must be visible in your entry. For digital submissions (2D Crafts only) you may write your username on your submission directly. For physical submissions a physical name card is required.

For 3D crafts, when it says no using other people's work/premade components, would that include using a crochet pattern?

I probably won't do crochet anyways, since I'm an absolute beginner and my last attempt at it was several months ago, but I thought I'd ask just in case I felt brave enough to try it ^^

This sounds pretty fun. I already have a bunch of ideas for the sweets category! There is a Valentine-y soup I wanted to try, but it's not exactly a sweet. Would use a lot of fruit. I'm going to try to do it just for fun though! This one is def my favorite!

Following a pattern is absolutely okay. I'd advise including a link to the pattern as a reference. :)

Hey Chris, would making party “favors” be considered ok? I have an idea that might be kinda fun. I can dm u if u want more details.
If you could provide more information about what you mean that would be super helpful.

I have a question: what item drawn in 2d (especially digital art) qualifies as a "Valentine's party" theme? Does it have to be a drawing of a physical decoration or can you draw something abstract for a Valentine's decoration (ex. Heart themed designs)?

Thank you!

There are examples included in the 2D Crafts sub-section of the Rules:

Examples of 2D crafts: cards, invitations, bunting, etc.

If you've a specific idea in mind of something you'd like to do you're welcome to message me to see if it would be accepted!
