Villager as a roommate?

I readed often that people would like the idea to have their favorite villager as a
roommate, kinda like that the villager has his/her own room in your house, which
he/she decorates on his/her own, helping the player by paying off the house debts
(even if it's just small amounts of bells, like when villagers donate small amounts for
PWPs), collecting items where the villagers thinks that you may need/want them,
helping each other in general and so on.

What do you thing about this idea and would you like to have such a option in the
new game? If so, which villager would you choose as a roommate?

I think the idea is not bad, as it could be funny to have a roommate and if such a
option would exist in the new AC game, then I guess would try it out. Not sure which
villager I would choose then as a roommate, depends what new villagers are in the
game then.

That’s so freaking cute. I want Dizzy as a room mate. But then again... part of me hopes they’ll keep villager houses the same and not introduce features that are too different from previous games. I mean, maybe we can use the phone item to call them over whenever we want?? Lol

The idea I readed once was that the villager houses still exist, it's just that if there is a villager
in your town you like and where you also be friends with this villager, that he/she could ask you
to become your roommate. The house of this villager would then disappear in the town, but also
appear again when you don't want that villager to be your roommate anymore.

This is so cute ahghgh... i'd love to have keaton living with me, i wouldn't mind it at all.
but even if they don't make this real, we can always just decorate a room exactly like their house and just pretend lol..

That's a really cute idea but I don't know if I would want it particularly. Maybe once in a while a villager will ask to stay at your house for the night/a couple days as a new type of request!

I was actually thinking about this idea. I think it would be cool for Amiibo functionality too, like if you use a Rover Amiibo, he would come move in with you. (maybe thats my bias against Rover tho lol)

To be honest, Rover deserve to have a home, that poor guy just seems to live the whole
time in a train and doesn't look like to have a own home at all. And now that I think about
it, I would like it to have him as a roommate too, lol.

Now that I think about it: Imagine you could choose a NPC as your roommate (the majority
choose Isabelle because of the Direct...). (This is just a silly thought, I know that NPC, if
you could choose a roommate, wouldn't be in the selection)

Gaston's been my bff since the first game, but man, his house is a garbage dump. I'm not sure I'd want him living in my house. lol

I feel like the only sensible way to implement something like that would be to let the villager have some control over how your house looks, and I don't like the idea of handing over control of my house to a computer generated villager who may very well mess things up. I'd rather just have my own little house and stick to regular visits!

Or if you are good friends, there will be a prompt (like you see when a villagers is camping) it’ll be the same roughly, just a little different asking “You should come live with me!” The reaction will be either positive or negative, depending on how well they know you.

Nah, this isn't a feature I like. My house is mine. I can decorate my favorite villagers houses for sure but I want my house to stay mine.

Plus because of the lack of decorating controls available while having visitors, I don't see this happening. People would have their villagers sequestered in a corner somewhere.

Hehe, imagine having a jock villager as your roommate. One of your rooms would turn into a gym in an instant. XD Maybe you would design their room like in happy home designer except you have absolute freedom of which furniture to choose.

I actually have a room in my house where basically guests can hang out for the night. It has basic needs like a bed, table, etc., just like you would expect in a hotel room.
