After filling up my last plot today I would like to know some details from anyone that has some cycling experience already.

Hypothetically my villager Hans, a smug, moves. Will the villagers on the mystery Islands now only show up with smug villagers?

Another scenario: I have Chrissy and Peanut. Both are peppys and now Chrissy moved out, Peanut is still there. Will the mystery Island villagers be locked to the Peppy personality? Or will there be other personalities?

Or is every personality fair game regardless of who moved out most recently?

If anyone would be able to clarify or made observations with cycling, please let me know! Thank you

I want to know this too; however, villager personalities on the islands appear to be random - at least after you get your first 6 villagers (including the camper).
However; I'm not sure what happens after the 10th villager moves.

I was also wondering if anyone has any better understanding than I do, so I've used around 70+ Nook Miles Tickets to search for Raymond. I was wondering if each game has a present "more common villager" type that they'll encounter like how we have native and secondary native fruits? I've encountered Velma twice in a row. I've encountered a lot of elephant, deer, kangaroo, reindeer and eagle type villagers but never any squirrel and I've maybe encountered 1-2 cat villagers total. I'm really confused about the randomization of the mystery island villagers.

If you're talking about your villagers during the period from your 6th to 10th villagers. Friends and I have observed that it's entirely random, basically a dice roll each time on species/personality. At least to all of us it has seemed like it so far. Now if you're talking about the ones after a villager has moved out, that I've basically been asking and hoping to get an answer.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one though that's been wondering about this. In case that the mystery villagers are tied to the last personality leaving/the personality missing on the island, it'd make hunting dreamies on Mystery Islands much more bearable, because there is less randomness with other personalities thrown in.
I think currently only the time-travellers might have some experience, so if anyone knows anything about it I'd be super happy about some observations :D

So I went on quite a few of these but not too many for it to be conclusive but the Cranky personality seemed a lot more prevalent in my case.
However, I did come across other personality types too.
I don't think I saw any Peppy or Jock ones (and I really want to change my Jock) but that's probably just coincidence as I've got on about 10 tour tops.
I'm really happy with the villagers I got but I'm still missing a Snooty.
I really wish the game allowed for more villagers. I've 10 plots plus my house and about 1/3 of the island is occupied.
We should, honestly, get 12 at the very least. :(

Yeah I have the feeling it's really hard to tell in such small sample sizes. Maybe, if we haven't gotten a conclusive answer by then, you can let us know here if the game sets you up with a snooty or the moved out personality when you have someone move out/in again!

And yeah, 12 villagers would make it much easier for me to decide on who I want, I'm really struggeling already haha

Honestly I think Hans is one of the best vilagers in the game. You got lucky with him imo.

Chiming in to confirm that villager personalities are, indeed, random. My tenth moved out lats night, my only peppy, and I've been finding every other personality on my island hopping spree today except for the one I'm actually looking for... :p

They seem to be random based on my experience and this could both be a blessing and a curse because it’s difficult to discipline yourself when choosing villagers and try to balance out personalities and species in your town. I was looking specifically for a cranky yesterday since it’s the only personality I’m lacking in town and the islands show all sorts of villagers from all sorts of personalities. I was praying so hard not to encounter a dreamie from a repeat personality because I’d be tempted to recruit them instead of the cranky I need.

Thank you very much for posting your experience.
It's a little disappointing to hear, because I'd hoped it would be certain personalities to make it easier to find a wanted villager, but I guess that means I'll stock up on Nook tickets already!
