Villager House Exteriors

I know some of us like to have villager houses with exteriors that match the theme of the island, and in the past, some of the best villagers had the worst exteriors, like Kyle.

Here are all the villager houses from New Leaf, so you have an idea.

I assume they will be very different in New Horizons, but some exteriors still may have that shabby tin exterior or something else we don't like.

I think since there isn't a guide or a Dream Suite at the moment, that those of us who are playing could post an image of their villagers house exterior once we get playing, and we'd have this, or a new topic, as a reference for those of us that demand a good aesthetic when it comes to villager house exteriors.

We could build a nice database right here.

Lots of folks are already talking abput having certain themes and things so knowing in advance what a villagers house might look like would be really helpful for those who want to plan things out.

I am sure we can customize the houses of the animal villagers just like ours. Doesn’t make sense that they‘d ask us who we want and where they can put their tents, but not how the exterior should look.

I like this idea. I paid more attention to the villagers I had in NL than what their houses looked like, but a few made cohesive landscaping difficult. It would be nice to know how it'll look before plunking someone down.

I hope we can, but I have a feeling we may not be able to.

I'm still hoping we can send them walls and flooring like we could in Wild World.

Still, if their particular house upgrades to just a high end version of their original 'dump', people will want a reference.

I know I very much want to see if Fang still lives in a not so good house, before moving him in, no matter how much I like him.

It's about the aesthetics.

some of the houses we've seen so far didn't seem crazy, they were actually a bit basic looking. some had more of a theme, like a log cabin or a lil hut looking thing, but they aren't as eye-catching, which when compared to new leaf is a good thing.

i think it's a nice idea to have a lil database. the past few towns i've planned in new leaf i picked the villagers based on house exterior, so when we get to later game acnh and we're trying to make a more cohesive town it'd be nice to know who has what house.

In the end I know I’ll have/keep villagers despite their house exteriors, but having an overview of options would definitely be nice. I’m already looking forward to sharing pictures of any new villagers I may get, so I’ll gladly contribute pics for this project too!

This would be a great idea. That link is really nice! I?ve never seen all the villagers exteriors like that before, it?s always been a surprise in game for me. Oof is Kyle?s house very unfortunate looking.

I'd definitely love to have this, and I'll try and contribute with my own pictures when I can.

Still, I'm hopeful they've changed how villager house exteriors work, since we haven't seen anything too bad in the trailers so far. Honestly, I don't really love any of the uchis between their looks and their house exteriors, so the start of the game might be a challenge.
