Sooo, I just want to ask you guys about some things I noticed.

the villager moving out cycle is very clear and does match with the wikia. Cooldown of a villager moving out is 15 days or 5 days, if you convinced one of your loved ones to stay. So far so good

I see some issues with villagers moving in which does not match any wikia page.

there are 5 ways:

1. adopt a villager from an NMT iland
2. adopt a villager from the tent
3. adopt a villager from another player while he is in boxes
4. play with another player while they have a villager in their void
5. get a random villager after several days

way 1, 2 and 3 are working as intended and does not involve any questions. But #4 and #5 does.

#4 after a lot of observation the lasts month, I ALWAYS got a villager from another towns void when I played with my friends. I‘m a huge fan of getting villagers like in #5, so I was a bit annouyed, that the game forced me to go the #4 way, when I was playing with my friends. Yeah, you can avoid that by letting adopt these villager in boxes, but all of my friends are huge fans of #5, so adopting someone as in #3 was not a favorable way either. However, we all switched villagers with each other and every villager who moved out found a new home on an isle of one of my friends.

In August or September, we started to try not to play with each other to generate some #5 villagers. After getting some void villagers in a row from old multiplayer sessions, I finally started to get some #5 villagers. So did my friends

Now things getting a bit weird...
In October, me and 2 of my friends didnt got new villagers after one moved out. Usually after a villagers moved out, you got a new one in the #5 way after waiting 2-4 days. Out of the sudden it took for EVERYONE of us more than 14 days till someone new moved in. We all were super confused. Every villager who moved in since then took around 2 weeks.

But...it changed again in December
After all these month without playing in multiplayer to avoid #4, we decided to play again. We knew back than that we couldnt avoid the happening of #4, but we played anyway. Now things got really interesting:

several days back Jitters moved in my town, only 3 days after one moved out. The first villager in a long time who didnt need 2 weeks. On top, hes a #5 villager, completly new, non of my friends ever got him. I was completly sure to get some void villager after playing with my friends but it didnt happen. The exaxt same thing happened today in my friends town where Snooty moved in, also completly new after only 3 days. Like things should be like right from the start.

This is the first time ever since release that we can enjoy the game in these aspect of the game: getting #5 villagers AND playing together online without trigger #4

and we are beyond excited!
I just wanted to write all these things to ask you guys about your experience so far. We are reaaally hoping they changed something ingame we didnt notice till this point and I also hope, it stays at this way. This could be a possibility that everyone can get villagers how he likes it the most. As a fan of #5, I got bad cards the last month, but I hope that now ended. I hope some people know a bit more or can add own experiences:)

english is only my second language, I hope everything was understandable

greetings, lots of love and enjoy these christmas days:)

note: I know some people had issues with fresh villagers moving in, but all I had to find was the information that it took a max of 4 days, not 14 like in my case. Also, the void villagers from other friends moved in my town 100% before we tried to play again this month

I also love getting random move-ins! I've used both mystery islands and the campsite to get villagers but I prefer getting randoms. I've gotten eight villagers that way so far, where the longest to move in by far is Tipper, who took 19 days (Nov. 26 to Dec. 15) to buy the empty plot, and I thought I would go insane going on for nearly three weeks with no one moving in. After that my next longest was Klaus who took nine days. Three of mine also only took two days, including Rhonda who bought her plot on the 18th of this month.

I'm curious to know the likelihood of a plot being sold each day, because five of mine took four days or less, while the remaining three were 6, 9, and 19.

Yeah thats why Its always best to hunt for villagers using nook mile tickets because the worst thing that can happen if you leave your plot open and you don't have a villager yet the next day. You will see who will move in tomorrow and on the next day after that it could be a villager from another island that was recently moved away. You could have a villager that has a lot of messy things in their home. I can see why some people don't like the idea of having villagers with too many fish and bugs in there homes. Which is why they tend to hunt for villagers that they like. I do it all the time so I know what to expect. I do time travel so I know the patterns of when a villager is moving out.

this is excellent data, thank you! I‘m excited to hear if your move in patterns also change for the next one! This would be a great reason to hope that the devs fixed that.

there are data on wikias for the likelihood for a move in for each day, but they dont match at all. Most common thing I read is that after 4 days without a new villager its a 100% chance.... which is not true. So here we are

@iamjohnporter67 yeah, I can see the appeal of it for most people, but its just not for me, which is okay. I never used the campsite back in New Leaf neither did any plot resets in past games. New Horizons however is the first game in its series where the old fashion methode of villagers moving in your lovely town have a lots of downsides (no way to clear your void, really long waiting times at its peak), so I‘m hoping there were some secret data patchnotes to help people who prefer #5 to enjoy these aspect as the rest of this beautiful game:)
