I've seen villagers selling for really high amounts elsewhere and I'm interested in what people think about that.
I remember that in NL (and maybe before that) selling villagers in itself was controversial, with some people being against it. Personally, I think it's ok to sell villagers because they're fictional characters so I don't see it as an ethical issue, but it blows my mind that can cost so much. I prefer giving villagers away for free or for small favours (like cataloguing something) because I know getting them can be a real pain and it seems weird to attach so much value to characters you don't even want. I also hate the way the villager "economy" can make it harder to get less popular villagers. In NL there were so many villagers I wanted and took forever to get (or never did) because people just voided them automatically.
It seems like in NH it might be the same unless you find people who have amiibo cards.
What are your own thoughts? What's the most you've ever paid for a villager?
