Villager Reset Trick Woes

Okay so for the past five hours I've been doing the villager plot reset trick to get Marshal. I'm dead locked into smug villagers so I thought that this would be easy. Wrong sir, very wrong. So far all I've gotten are constant repeats of Colton, Curlo and Lopez and occasionally Zell, the latter of which I may settle for if I never get my marshmallow squirrel.

I thought that you could get any villager of that type, but now my confidence is shaken ;-; All of the ones that have shown up I hate, but yet I still try. Can anyone clarify? I just want to know if this is all in vain, or should I keep on trucking?

I think you should be able to get every villager at least once, it can take forever though!
When I was resetting for uchi villagers I had a LOT of repeats while a few others only showed up once.
So I'd keep trying!

Yeah my boyfriend got a bunch of repeats before he got Cherry, keep trying!

I just got Ed, who isn't exactly Marshal but I haven't gotten him before! This is a lot less grueling than the campsite reset trick so I'm going to be very persistent! Thanks for the encouragement~

I literally did this just today - I got Henry a ton, but yes, you eventually get Marshal! I just got him and man it's worth it uvu <3 It does cycle through every villager in the category. Just, for some reason, it likes to go through repetitive ones.

Keep trying! I had to reset over a period of three days to get Bam to finally show up.
You could be at it for a very long time.

Really? I thought the campsite reset trick was a lot easier. I hated doing the villager reset trick since I always had to run around looking for the house plot, and sometimes there wouldn't even be a plot *sigh*

I think it has to do with the personality you have the least and/or none of

Im going to do this
Im going to let probably Mitzi/Freya move first and then Lopez
this will leave me with each personality but Smug, as i have another normal (Vesta) and another snooty (Willow) so letting one go wont matter
so ill reset for Marshal

Just, for some reason, it likes to go through repetitive ones.

When you reset the game it doesn't remember that it's already shown that villager - it just generates one at random.


It took me 72 resets to get Lobo. Chief came up in 6-7 of those resets.
