Villagers talking about hanging out with you

So, I've noticed that since yesterday, my villagers have been talking about hanging out with me. I'm absolutely sure these are new lines of dialog, as they weren't in the game before (I would know if they were because after some time, the dialog starts to repeat).

Three villagers of different personalities (Phoebe, Fang and Felicity) talked about "hanging out with you later" or that "we should hang out some day". I don't remember exactly the other dialog about it but the words "hang out" or "hanging out" were part of the dialog.

Now, on another thread, I saw a post by @McRibbie talking about a hidden visiting system and now I'm like... Well, is this part of the upcoming update? Because these lines of dialog were probably added in the latest update (1.7.0), but the conversations were possibly time-locked as they just started to happen (I've been playing every day since the end of November).

Are you guys seeing these dialogs as well?

I have noticed Felicity and other peppy villagers talking about hanging out. But I don't think I've noticed Fang or other cranky villagers using "hanging out" in dialog. The cranky ones tend to mention getting a beverage together.

i don't think a villager on my island has said anything like this
although, almost everytime i speak to katt she says something like "u should come round my place, i'm making food" and i get really excited for a sec but then she stops lol

but i really hope nintendo will bring back that thing from NL when u could set a time to visit a villager or they could come see u
(then again axel used to randomly enter my house anytime i was there for more than 5 seconds, i do NOT miss that haha)

Of course, none of it happened.

You could be getting the dialogue now because you've reached a certain level of friendship with your villagers. I talk to mine every day, several times a day for most residents, so I think I may have unlocked it earlier.

Thing is, I have max friendship with Megan, Fang, Marina and Alfonso, but not with Phoebe and Felicity.

Yeah I've had villagers express an interest to hang out with either as a joke or as an attempt to "make plans" but it never happens. I wish it did tho.

I've always had Merry ask me if I'm going to hang out with her. Been like that since I've gotten her, way back in late March.

I saw similar phrases as well. I don't think it's going to lead anywhere, but it would be great if they made it possible to hangout with villagers like in New Leaf. I loved being invited to hang out at their house rather than me just barging in like I own the place. I think it would be cool if in a future update they made it possible to play hide and seek with them, too. I see Tangy or Agent S sometimes bring up that they were playing hide and seek by themselves, only to proceed with, "I won! I'm so bored." I don't know. I hope for more interactions in the future. And despite some people hating the feature of villagers visiting you while you're at home in New Leaf, I actually didn't mind it. We walk into their houses almost everyday, so I'd expect them to do the same.

To echo what others have said, the peppy dialogue "are you here to hang out with me?" has been in the game a while, if I recall correctly. I feel like I've had others too maybe but I don't remember them specifically.

Regarding the villagers visiting your house mechanic, I saw a modder say it was in the original code of the game (back in March) and they seemed to have scrapped it before launch. I remember seeing rumors about it before the last update (it even motivated me to finish decorating my house!), but then it didn't happen. I'm still hoping it comes sometime later, but I'm not entirely confident at the moment.

There's a load of dialog in the game for villager visits, and there has been since Day 1 (in the googleben dialog thing, it's under freeC_roomG for each of the villager personalities), and a load more was added in the 1.5.0 update (for the lazy villagers in particular), and it even has eventflows to activate it... but for some unknown reason, it's not there yet.

But yeah, I've had my villagers bring this stuff up to me before.

Something like this has happened (first time?) for my GF, whilst she played NH in August / September 2020. She had some experience with NL before and she had a hope, she may be hosting one of villagers...
Obviously nothing like this ever happened, not then, not later...

Sure, we may want to have this feature back, as we know for sure developers know how to do this, as this was implemented in the past. But for some reason this is one of many things been taken out from the game and never returned so far.
