villagers you never expected to love?

Pudge!!! I had her in both my city folk town when i was a kid. she gave me a really cute bed once and after that she was my fave. plus, she showed up in new leaf too! I'd love to someday have her back on my island haha.
I also really love Teddy and Dizzy, both of who I didn't originally like in New Leaf, but they ended up being some of my faves.

My two starting villagers were Frita and Sly. When I saw them, I nearly reset, but didn’t because I really just wanted to go with the flow and take things as they came. I hated their designs... and fashion choice! Sly was wearing a camo shirt that didn’t match his camo coloring, and Frita, a hamburger-inspired sheep (aaaahhh) was wearing a hot dog shirt. MADDENING. I ended up falling in love with both of them. They’re absolute dorks who have grown on me. I finally got Frita to stop wearing that darn shirt.

Lionel! I had him in my tent and was disappointed by his design (and the fact that he was my second lion), but I LOVE HIM!!! He was singing all day yesterday and I loved it sm

Egbert! He's such a sweetheart and I've come to really adore his design. He has sunken eyes and always looks worried. Poor baby.

I'm also apart of the Egbert fandom!

My husband invited her and I didn't like her at all. She's been living on my island for the past week and she's so cute! I went to her house yesterday and she plopped down on the floor and just started reading.

Sheldon and Gayle!

Sheldon was my starter and I’d just heard a youtuber say that Sheldon was their least fav villager. I was disappointed when I got him but.. idk just talking to him he started to get cuter?? And wow, I used to dislike Jocks but he’s the funniest villager I have.

I really hated Gayle’s overly cutesy and pink design and actually Normals are my least fav personality (what personality?!) but... I decked out her house with pink and white flowers and she’s not looking so glaring among them!

Out of the new villagers, she was the one which I didn't like that much at first. However, she moved yesterday into my town and overall, she's not that bad as I thought she would be. Besides, her design is actually quite cool.

definitely Cookie! i wasn't a fan of my starting villager this time around (Caberra/Axel) and she was the first one i found on an island, so i thought "ok, she'll do!" and nothing more than that. however, i've grown super attached to her already, and now i can't imagine not having her!

Keaton the eagle. I when I first got him in the campsite I was planning on forcing him out with my Tex amiibo. But tbh he's grown on me and I'm very conflicted about letting him go. I'll probably keep him around for awhile.

Omg Filbert. He moved into my island randomly and instantly became my favorite squirrel villager (sorry marshal).

Super adorable, must be protected at all costs.

 

[Saga]

Pango! She doesn't have my favorite design, but she seems much kinder and way funnier than my other peppy villager. She's constantly complimenting me, giving me presents, and making me laugh. I actually like her personality the best out of all my villagers, I think... I'm so surprised! I invited Flora to move in with plans to then let Pango move out ASAP, but it turns out I don't like Flora nearly as much...

rizzo, marshal, octavian. i had all of them at some point in new leaf.

• i thought rizzo was fugly at first but he grew on me to the point where i wouldn't let him move out when he wanted to, i eventually erased that town to start over. he ended up randomly moving into my second town and i was ecstatic tbh, but that town's also long gone now
• marshal was one of those random move ins who put his plot in an awkward place, and this was before i'd met him in the game but knew there was hype about him. like i thought 'oh this is that villager that everyone's obsessed with, ok whatever' and didn't think much of him at first but boy did he grow on me fast
• i thought octavian was a lil weird looking at first but decided at some point that i wanted him in my town after meeting him in someone else's, plus it was a tropical island-y theme so i thought he'd fit perfectly. i learned to love his cranky puffy cheeked face, he's actually so cute

Mitzi! She moved in as my '3 first villagers' and I thought she would be boring, but I literally LOVE her and before I thought of letting her go if she asked to move out -- nope, not anymore. Shes primary in Oerba now <3

Sprocket was one of my starter villagers and I love him already despite being indifferent when I first started last Thursday. Today he came to water the flowers next to my house, plus I even got a photo with him earlier as he sat nearby me. I fully support this totally-not-a-robot bird! Shinsufiru will always be his home.

 

[Dizzardy]

I've really grown to love Puddles and Chester a lot. I didn't dislike them before this but I had never really thought much of them before New Horizons.

To be fair the same could be said for Flip, Gladys, Hazel and Curlos (my other villagers) to a lesser degree.

Sprocket has really grown on me, but I still don't want him on my island. I need him out asap before it gets worse

Gonna sound silly but I had a random move in, Lolly, and I never was one for the cats in this game. But now I really like her.
