When I heard about the 16 villager cycle I was kinda happy to get some of my villagers back, but can someone tell me if I can still get them even if they live in the void?

Yeah, of course! Whether or not they've been voided you can still get them back :)

Okay... what? Villager cycle? This is all news to me someone please explain. @_@
When a villager moves out of your village (whether it be to another town or to the void), the villager is still saved in the game's memory. The game saves 16 of these villagers; they're the ones you see visit main street after a while. In order to get back a villager that moved out, you have to "push" them out of the memory by cycling through 16 other villagers so they are no longer saved inside of the game's memory.

Basically, once a villager moves out, sixteen villagers have to move out after them in order for them to be able to move back into your town.
Something like that.

oh okay. That's cool! I'd wondered if villagers could come back eventually. Though I suppose it'd be too much to hope for that they actually remember you or something. ;-;
