I'm bummed. This is my first Animal Crossing game and was happy to find out early on how to make my own tarantula islands. It paid for my house upgrades up to the first upstairs room.

Now...those creepy little water bugs are cutting in to my bell making fun. Since you can't scare them off, it doesn't seem as efficient to catch and release to spawn spiders. What are you tarantula fans doing?

Is there another, similar way to make quick cash? I don't want to time travel or play the stalk market if I can avoid it. I heard fishing might be profitable (not sure how), but the egg thing is really a problem for the next couple weeks. Any ideas that might help a newbie rake in the bells? Any help would be appreciated.

Making furniture out of the eggs and selling them is a great way to profit off their abundance. Selling foreign fruits to your shop and selling your native fruit to a friend’s shop are also easy ways to make quick bells.

Can I ask why you don’t want to play the stalk market? It’s a great way to at least double your investment and the prices usually follow predictable patterns; there are lots of articles that explain how they work! This one is one of my favorites. Even though it’s for New Leaf, a lot of the principles still apply to New Horizons.

Thanks Phantom.

I guess from the brief bit I've read about market, you can lose a lot too, maybe I should read up a bit more.

I haven't used a single egg from all the various sources, so I must have dozens of each. Wanted to make sure I had enough to make one of each item for some achievement. When you say sell furniture, you mean to the nook kids correct?

Have a huge orchard of all fruits and did my first island wide harvest today, but for some dumb reason I'm afraid to sell too many of them at once. Ha, even in-game I've become a hoarder. :) My spiders were a quick fun splash of cash.

haha, welcome to a problem that people that play on the southern hemisphere have encountered since the release. and don't even get me started on crickets.

i just catch them. if i'm not mistaken, they sell for about 2,500 bells so it's not like they aren't worth anything.

Thanks Phantom.

You can certainly lose a lot, but that’s really only if you rely on your own island. The turnip prices thread is great for connecting with people whose islands have good prices. If your island’s turnip prices aren’t doing well, then you can sell on someone else’s island.

Yes, sell to the nooklings. I’m not 100% certain on the requirements for the Bunny Day event, but from what I’ve read you only need to build the event furniture to get the final reward. So you can definitely sell all the extras you make!

I dont have anything helpful to add besides I read it as...
Water bugs invaded MY TARANTULA Islands.
Made me laugh.
I farm fruit personally. Just plant a ton of fruit trees and spend like an hour harvesting them.
Doesnt seem to work as well this game.

There has been a shift though it isn't all bad. I've had 2 decent runs since April first. The best was a bamboo island I cleared off and got myself a full bag half tarantulas half atlas moths (my axe broke so I had a coconut palm left). No water bugs on bamboo island.

The other was a 2 level with pond. I just kept catching and releasing water bugs and digging up mole crickets to trigger fresh spawns. Not as easy but still worked.

5 bug spawns at a time. If you can cycle them and flowers/trees are gone you've got a decent chance for a tarantula pop.
