Weird things that scared you when you were little?

I had this Winnie the Pooh CD-ROM game and I was scared of Piglet in it. I looked back at it as an adult and realized it had something to do with the background music being part of Piglet's audio files (pretty much only playing when he spoke) and it just felt unsettling that way and I don't know how else to explain it.

The SpongeBob credits theme. I said this in a different thread a few months ago, but it was because most episodes didn’t use it, and it always happened when they were doing reruns at night. So it kind of spooked me a little whenever episodes did use it.

I remember when I was 6-7 my mom showed me my baby photo, and I just screamed and cried and ran away for no reason. XD I guess I wasn't used to how I looked so different back then. Or maybe my face was too scary?
This happened to me when I was younger, except it was the cover of The Incredibles DVD box. This also happened with a rotary phone for some reason. And an eagle plushie, even though I loved birds. I guess that last one was evolutionary instinct? XD

There was a show I watched when I was younger called Lamb Chop's Play-Along. Cute show with puppets and I loved it...but for some reason I was horrified by the giant versions of them. lol

The night time animal crossing music. New Leaf 9pm scared me, as did City Folk 9pm. I still can’t listen to them 😂
Also I was terrified of the farmer in Shaun the Sheep because it looks like he doesn’t have any eyes 😂

Well, for one thing, I was scared of the music that played whenever the timer dropped down to 99 in Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 for the Game Boy Advance, so I kept turning the volume down whenever I was running out of time again.

And another thing, I was also scared of SpongeBob's face whenever the timer counted down for however long he could breathe during the stage at Sandy's treedome before the events of the robot battle in the Game Boy Advance version of Battle for Bikini Bottom, but weirdly enough, I wasn't even scared of SpongeBob's face when he needed water in the episode, "Tea at the Treedome".

My first one I'm not sure if it's weird or normal LOL but I lived in this older house when I was little, up until I was around 10 I believe, and in the basement under the stairs there was a storage room, and I was TERRIFIED of it, wouldn't even go near it. Walking down the stairs filled me with dread, and I didn't even wanna look in that direction lol

and then also in super mario 64, there's the piano that attacks you, and I was so scared of it LOL I would stay as far away as possible from it, and even cried one time when it attacked :ROFLMAO:

-battleground z from the mii plaza. the music + the zombie miis scared me, i had to put it in the game vault because i was too afraid to even look at it.

-the butterfly frame from spongebob, ngl im still afraid of the jumpscare 😭

-the non-functional warp pipes in some maps in MKWii. my younger brother made up a story that if you manage to go through the warp pipe then it'll glitch the game out and break our wii. that and also bumping into goombas; he told me if you bump into them enough your character will DIE and you won't be able to play ever again. idk why i believed him lol

I was scared of walking in stores alone. I didn't get over that until I was around 16-17 years old. When it finally dawned on me that I was too big to be physically abducted. It never stopped me from doing it, but I was paranoid.

When I was a little kid I was approached by a suspicious stranger in the library. I had to yell for my mom.

Then when I was 13 I was followed by a man through a Walmart.

It was weird to be scared at that age. (especially being male, people are rather less understanding). But I had my reasons at the very least. Sometimes it still hits me. I'm an adult. I don't have to worry about this anymore.

The music video for "E.T." by Katy Perry ft. Kanye West 😂

It was the intro specifically that scared me iirc; I thought the music and Katy's singing sounded so eerie. I was also pretty unnerved by the alien that turned into Katy. I was so scared of the MV that I wouldn't even listen to the song LOL, but I eventually got over it. "E.T." is one of my favourite Katy Perry songs these days!

This thread actually inspired me to rewatch the video for the first time in years. I definitely understand why younger me was scared of it lol, but I think it's cool now! I especially like Katy's outfits and makeup, though I honestly do still think she's kinda scary LOL

I was also scared of the show Katie and Orbie. I was mostly scared of the theme song, but honestly the whole show creeped me out lmao. I had a nightmare one night and the show's theme song was the first thing I heard when I woke up, and it scared me even more. I found it again on Youtube a few years ago after I finally remembered what the show was called, and I'm still creeped out by it 😭

I totally forgot about that song, and for some reason, I also remember watching the video as well. It really is disturbing with those random shots of disintegrating dead animals, Perry's dress flying all around and looking like space garbage (it's true), and general sci-fi weirdness. I think it's trying to send a message about giving a darn about the health of the future. I wasn't as creeped out about it watching it the first time, but man that video took me on a mental trip.

So this one is going to sound incredibly weird, but here it goes...

There was a Blue's Clues episode (one of the later Joe episodes I believe, forgot which one exactly) with a final clue that looked a bit awkward. It was an anthropomorphic pawprint (yep, it walked around and made noises) with the bottom part incredibly tall and skinny, and the whole thing looked like a human-sized blue popsicle stick. When I saw that on my TV for the first time, 4-year old me got really scared. It didn't help that it was alive, and I think at one point it bent toward the "screen" and tapped its "paws" on it. I don't even remember what the clue was supposed to resemble, but boy I did not like seeing it.

My younger sister caught on that I was scared of this "thing", and would consistently refer to it as "long pawprint" when trying to rile me up. I haven't seen what this "long pawprint" looked like in a very long time, but if I ever revisit the show (it's a massive guilty pleasure of mine these days), I would imagine it would trigger unhappy flashbacks, despite adult me looking at it now and seeing how harmless it looks.

I looked up that pawprint and i gotta sayI must have not have seen that episode before because it would have scared the crap out of me as a kid too!
Reminds me of This episode of pink panther that scared me when I was little, especially at the 3 minute mark. The giant asterisk jumpscare was too much for me.

I was terrified of touching clocks when I was young. I didn't mind them on the wall as long as they didn't come near me. I didn't tell anyone apart from my Mum and Dad. My Dad helped me with my fear. He took the one down from the living room wall and sat it down on the settee. He reassured me it wouldn't hurt me, and after that I have been fine! It quite ironic as I loved watches at that time, well I still do!
