what about a guest board?

maybe if we created a guest board, for guests to post, as well as get to know the forum, or ask questions about it too, we could get more members and activity as well. its just a thought I had, it would all depend on how mature posters are of course, if guests post spam or flame the board, then we delete the guest board, however if it sounds like a good idea to everyone, then go for it, I just wanted to put this idea out there for tought, as well as fine-tuning.

Eh, I'm not too crazy about the idea, because then anyone could come in posting anything. And, by seeing other forums with guestboards, I know that they pretty much think "Oh, I'm not a member, I can post whatever..." and, yeah, I think you get the idea.

that is what I was concerened of, and the only way to see if a guest board would work is to do what I did, if anyone posts something rude or inappropraite(sp), the guest section would be deleted without a single thought, however, if it is only the occasional spam you get with all forums, then it could be ok. It all depends on how mature the guests are, if they think they can just spam up the guest section, then the board would be pointless, however, if guests actually had questions, then it would be somewhat useful for getting new (and hopefully active) members.

Bad idea. Many of the mature users it gives off the impression of an immature forum. It also lets them post without joining, basicaly spam. If they really wanted to say their opinion they would email a staff member or join.

That's what I was thinking. And, if you've joined IFSZ forums, and you've seen the forums where the skins are previewed, then you'll understand. If we opened a guest board, it would bring those kinds of people here, and that would make TBT look bad. Not to mention, we don't want stuff like that here. >_<

Yup, those are pretty bad...well, with the guest boards at my forum has been pretty successful, well, once someone advertised but we deleted the link, and someone who posted in the guest board became an active member. With a guest board there are more positives and negatives. If someone does something, advertised, or w/e, just delete the post.

well, the point I want to make is, if we do make a guest board, we would have to see how mature the guests handle it, if they abuse it, then we delete the board, if it is used to hold intellegent discussions between members and potential members, then we could keep it. It all depends on how it would be used.

Yes, I agree, because some forums I go to it's just spam in the guestboard. I think some members advertise there as guests, too. But I wonder how it will work in a board like this?
