So go back about 1year, when I first loaded up the game, completely new to the mechanics of the game, I was greeted at the gate by Isabella, and Mott this jock lion. Mott was my favorite character (still is btw) and I decked out the area around him. I had a fountain and lampposts and flowers, I always talked to him I always spent lots of time looking for clothing and furniture for him. However at the time I didn't have a lot time for the game and didn't know a villager could leave without your permission. Lo and behold one day I open up the game and I get his letter saying goodbye, and his picture. I was DEVASTATED. I actually restarted my town and stopped playing for almost a month. Well I eventually started playing again but I never got far, maybe up to 2 rooms in my house and the t&t mart. Not far, but recently I made a new town in Aug. and was greeted by Pekoe, one of my old dreamies, and fast forward to today, I have the T&T emporium, every dress I could want and a really nice town, if I do say so myself. I had 9 villagers and I was thinking of moving one out cheri (I had two peppies and didn't really love her all that much) and in her stead I found monquie from the camping grounds. I was so happy to have a cat in my town go forward three days, cheri is moving in two days and the place for monquie's house has been set. And there's some one camping in my town. I open the flap and I saw my beloved lion smiling at me. I was so excited! I kept talking to him for at least an hour before I noticed... he hadn't even tried to move in. He didn't ask once, and I started crying, because the game viewed itself full even thought cheri was leaving. In a panic I fast forwarded to after cheri left, and went straight back. Camp was still there, I raced inside. I was greeted by Iggly. I haven't played since.

So, what's your worst experience with almost having a dreamie or losing a dreamie?

(P.s. If anyone knows how to and would like to take this demon spawn Monquie out of my town they are more than welcome to. I hate her now.)
(P.P.S. Yes I know about the trading forums, I have yet to have someone reply to my pleads or offer him up)
(P.P.P.S I GOT MOTT BACK FROM MORI-CHAN I CAN'T BELIEVE MY LUCK)

Many towns ago, I lost Sprinkle...I think it may have been a TTing accident. I was so upset that I restarted my town. I haven't had her in a town since and I honestly don't think I'd want her again, still makes me sad!

I've never actually lost a villager by accident, but I've regretted giving up a villager quite a few times. This happened with Sprinkle, Lily, Hugh and Fang in my original town.

Oh I feel ya, I once gave up Valma, this pink goat, I still miss her, but it's not the end of the world I guess,

I've never lost a dreamie -knocks on wood- but I did lose Derwin, who I was good friends with. Literally he just left one day. No TTing, no extended leaves, nothing. I was just playing regularly, and then one day Isabelle told me he was in boxes. I was like ?????

My biggest loss was back in CF when I lost Merry. I actually cried. Second biggest loss was yesterday when I lost Stitches, my super buddy. He was my mayor's teddy bear who had come to life and was his assistant. I ended up deleting the town and starting a new one last night.

However, this morning he showed up in my daughter's town from out of my void! Happy day! And SO happy you have Mott again! *throws confetti*

we write Sep 3rd, 2014

Ever since the game was released in EU (June, 14th, 2014) I played a lot. After the summer holidays, I had four full paid for houses and 9 out of 10 dream villagers (Erik, Fang, Marina, Roscoe, Bunnie, Diana, Tabby, Whitney, Fauna).
My Main Street was completed and a great deal of the Museum too.

I was very happy with my town, especially after just a period of two months.

But on September 3rd... opened up the 3ds, pressed the power button, nada, nothing, dead, just a strange noise.

Went back to the shop : "yep, system problem, system corrupted". They had to do a "hard reset" (something in that category) but all information would be lost. Including the data of built-in games. That meant : new leaf, since I have the AC NL 3XL DS.

Went home. System worked fine again. But yes, ran NL and all was lost... money, dlc's, paths, houses, And of course, also all those dream villagers which I "loved" and befriended.

I was rather "heartbroken", and it took a few weeks before I could even think about getting started again.

Now, a good year later, I again am very happy with my town (to be honest I think it's better than my original Paarl).
I have the villagers I want, love the layout etc. But still, now and again I dream visit my old town...

Ah well...

Reading your post, I'm not gonna lie, is like reading a storybook :D nice choice of words (I read it 3 times lololol)

The first painful lost I experienced in ACNL is when Shep my bro moved out randomly due my inactivity in the game for over 2 months.. He left his pic, but still :(

Another time, I lost Zucker, my favorite villagers few days ago because my little sister TT-ing my town without my knowledge :/ I was so sad, I even thought about restarting my town, like you did. However, I did not.. Maybe someday I'll be able to meet the other Zucker and invite him to my town.

And goodluck shoo-ing monique out of your town :p

Well I had Two wolves in my ACWW Wolfgang and Chief So I had left the game as ACNL came out I eventually re-booted my ACWW to look and Chief had left I had put loads of effort In to please my now fav animal Wolfgang and after crying for days about Chief Wolfgang also left...I even named my account on this Wolfganglover I now have Wolfgang in my ACNL but Im still looking out for Chief my first ever Wolf...

I lost Melba when I forgot to turn the time back after going on vacation. There's a memorial where her house was and I keep her in my memory any way I can ;-; whenever I get a Melba in my cycling town I never void her, always give away

If Monique ever decides to leave your town, could you let me know? I almost had her once, but someone's void had different plans for me.

Bones in WW. My bestie. My "woman's best friend". My adorable and clumsy dog villager. I couldn't adopt a dog villager afterwards for ages.

That was about 6 years ago. I've only just adopted my first dog villager since then.

Mallary! She has been my favorite since the GameCube days, and I had adopted her from a kind Tumblr user when I first started my main ACNL town of Ruddyoak. I was playing every day, making sure to give her lots of attention and also talking to all villagers to prevent an unwanted move-out. One week I was working on several job applications, and missed playing for one day. I started up my game the next day, and Isabelle informed me that Mallary was moving out the very next day. I couldn't believe it, and wanted to cry. I stopped playing for weeks, though I kept Ruddyoak set to that same day so I wouldn't void Mallary. I wanted to hold on to her for as long as I could. Finally, I decided to move her into my second town, Goblin.

This is the happy ending to the story, though: Mallary moved in right above Goblin's only pond, and I declared it Mallary's Duck Pond. I decorated the entire area just for her, and it is now my favorite spot in the town. Also, since I made Goblin especially for the Dream Suite, Mallary is visited by lots of people. :p
