If there’s a singer from the 70’s/80’s that has an insanely unique and raspy voice, it’s Roger Chapman. Not all his songs were particularly amazing, but there’s a few where he stands out in a good way depending on the backing band he’s with. His guest appearance on Mike Oldfield’s “Shadow on the Wall” is an example. As Oldfield rarely does non-sampled vocals on his own songs (he loosely sounds like a drunk Roger Daltrey from The Who), he’s brought on tons of talented singers that make his ‘80s stuff great.

“Islands” features Bonnie Tyler on vocals (who sang “Total Eclipse of the Heart”), and that one’s a personal favorite. Unfortunately, the album isn’t available on streaming services.
