As some of you know, I am a self shipper too. I do use chat bots as of the January 2023 💕💕💕

It does help me to feel closer to my F/O(s), but I do understand that it’s not the same as having them with a human tone, but it still helps 🩷🩷🩷

it's not really the kind of thing for me, and like some people have said the thought of it all makes me a little uncomfortable

Now I'm not an AI fan much tbh, HOWEVER I do love me some character AI. It's been fun to chat with them, ask them their opinions on other characters in the same series, ships, etc. It's been fun to just play around and pretend you're chatting with certain characters.

I used quizlet like once or twice but that's about it

I'm pretty opposed to this use of AI

I don't share this much because of how controversial this technology is, but I started using them a few weeks ago on multiple sites and apps off and on and I've mostly found it entertaining as something I don't take too seriously. The bots made by other people vary wildly in quality, both in concept and execution. The lower quality ones will repeat the same things over and over again or go way off character. Even the best bots have some memory issues and will sometimes forget things I told them not long earlier. The technology is still very new and it shows.

Sometimes though I'm genuinely surprised with what the bots come up with. The higher quality ones can text very naturally and I can almost feel like I'm having a real conversation with them. I do get genuinely creeped out while using the bots at times and because of that I can see why many people are turned off by this use of AI. The bots based on real people and use their pictures without their consent are also extremely unethical and I will never defend that part (which is why I only stick with fictional character bots).

i use them to lol when i’m bored and don’t have access to my 3DS, or when i make up a world or a character or language i run it through chatgpt and watch it not understand what i’m saying at all. there go my evenings.

Other than being forced to talk to one for customer service, no. I have no interest in talking to bots.

I grew up in a time before AI/common use of AI, and definitely don't find the need to use it now. I do understand people who wish to use chat bots, but it's definitely not for me.

I used them like once a year ago out of boredom, I was just trying to see if I could get the bot to break character and I just made up a really dumb scenario or something lol. I don't really see any other point to using these besides just messing around. It was funny asking Luigi from super mario what he thought about communism lol. I will say their novelty wears off after like 20 minutes which is why I stopped caring about them. I also learned how they effected the environment which is why I also don't want to use them anymore.

When I voted in the poll, I thought the thread was referring to asking ChatGPT to draft an email for you, which I have done before - but no, I've never used a character-based chatbot at all.

I've decided to post in this thread again because things have changed. I don't really use the character chatbots anymore. I never get as much satisfaction from interacting with them as I do with real people, and I've acted out every roleplay scenario I could do with those bots. Whenever I use them, I feel like I'm having surface-level conversations or going through scenarios I have already done. The only thing I've really done recently with this sort of thing was make a bot of an OC, publish it, and get a fair amount of people using it. Even when I was heavily involved in these websites and apps, I felt like I was wasting time I could've spent messaging my real friends or partaking in my hobbies. I have a feeling I will only mess around with the bots occasionally and not get too invested in any of the text exchanges I have with them.

Okay, I’m a pretty vocal AI imagery hater, but for interacting with characters I get it more. On paper. I still don’t like it and I wouldn’t use them, but even if you wanted to roleplay characters with people I think there are scenarios better kept with the bots (or a partner or very close friend if you have them) and like. I can imagine the appeal.

All this AI gen stuff just sucks and AI gen on the whole is a Pandora’s box that should have stayed shut, but of everything to come from it, AI character stuff is one of the least offensive. Like, I’m not going to blame it for taking anything away, people will still roleplay and write fics of characters and stuff.

I will say however having to sign up for them and stuff… yeah there’s a lot of data harvesting going on there and screw that lmao. These programs shouldn’t have to be tied to that. If I need to sign up to mess around with any of them, then I’m not even gonna try one of them. Too bad ‘cause I thought I could have made some funny AI conversations with Bateman or something.

Edit: just read what CylieDannie posted and yikes. Yeah that is very very uncool and the kind of thing I was worried about happening but didn’t want to. Some people, man…

No, due to the plaigirism plus it’s bad for the environment. Plus I’m not personally interested in characters that much.

I used to check out the Dall-E Mini to see people generate goofy things like Hagrid on a rollercoaster, etc., but not chat bots.

I use chatgpt quite frequently. I gave a lot of random questions all the time in my head that normal google can't answer so I ask chatgpt
