What is your go to comfort TV show or movie? I'm sure we all have them.
For years my go to shows were The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and The Simpsons. But after umpteen full rewatches I've had to completely cut them out.
Friends (every time it's on TV I can't help but sing along with the theme song and sit down to watch)
Community (only seasons 1-3 and 6 though)
Movies
High School Musical 3 (this is the epitome of comfort content for me. I've watched it so many times since I was a kid, and yet I still look forward to just about every part. I love all the songs so much)
Kal Ho Naa Ho (my all-time favourite movie. Some may argue it's too sad to be a comfort movie but I disagree)
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (I kinda disagree with the ending but it's such a fun movie that I'll give it a pass)
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (this movie is 3.5 hours long but I don't find it boring for a minute - lots of good songs and iconic scenes)

For TV Shows: The Total Drama Reboot - I love the whole series, but the reboot in particular is my comfort show. Big Windup! - It's not your typical sports anime but that's what makes it great. I vibe with it.
My favorite anime isn't actually listed here. While it is my favorite, I don't consider it to be a comfort show. It would be wrong of me to put it here as some of your favorite shows don't have to bring comfort to you. It doesn't discredit your opinion either way. Additionally, it's not wrong to like a show primarily based on the comfort it gives. You can like a show for any given reason, and if you can't explain why, that's okay. You don't have to know why it's your favorite. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone.
Musicals for me. The biggest two being Little Shop of Horrors and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. They don't require much effort for me to follow and I can simply zone out and listen to the soundtrack.
I'd say SpongeBob and Family Guy for TV shows. They are my two favorite shows and I love them to death. I also love SolarBalls, which is a web series on YouTube that first released in June 2022.
My comfort movies are mostly (if not all) Disney/Pixar and Dream Works, mostly notably Planes, Shrek 1 and 2, Toy Story 1 and 2, Cars, and The Incredibles.
- Adventure Time
- What We Do In The Shadows
- Bigtop Burger (on youtube)

Since anime is really the only thing i watch these days if we're talking movies its the girl who lept through time these days or tv shows its jigoku shoujo.
I remember going through similar phases with my go-to shows. Eventually, I needed something fresh to keep the comfort vibes alive. Recently, I stumbled upon some new movies out that instantly became my go-to for relaxation. Exploring new stories and characters brought a refreshing twist to my comfort routine.
It varies, but I’d say currently it’s Community, Jeopardy! (the reruns with Trebek, RIP) and Abbott Elementary for TV, and Mean Girls, As Good as it Gets, Waiting for Guffman, and Best in Show for films.
