What are your thoughts on Rodney?

It's weird that the AC community chose Rodney to hate on. Of all villagers you pick Rodney??? He's cute!! I don't have him on my island but I wouldn't mind having like a little old school beanie baby of Rodney. He looks like he'd be full of beans

I don't really like him because of his overall design and I definitely wouldn't keep him but I'm glad people like him.

I was neutral on him in New Leaf, but in New Horizons he was the obligatory campsite villager in the beginning of the game for me, and since I was playing at release, people didn't figure out exactly how to get villagers to move out for a little while... so I was trying all these different methods that were popping up every other day, trying to get him to move so I could make space for a different smug villager and he just WOULD NOT PING ME TO LEAVE. I swear nearly everyone else on my island asked to go except Rodney. He earned my ire purely for that reason, lol. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time; it could've been anyone.

Rodney is my archnemesis. In 2017 (ACNL) I wanted him to leave my town because it was in the way of a path I was making, but I did not mind him, I was verrrry patient with villagers with houses in the way of a pathing plan I had and I liked having new ones so I didn't mind too much. Then, one time, while were near his house by the cliff to the beach on the right hand side of the town, he talks to me and says he's planning to move out. I'm like cool! See you later buddy! Hope you liked living here! And then this HOOLIGAN goes SIKE IM NOT LEAVING LOL YOU THOUGHT and then WALKS AWAY FROM ME???? I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THEY COULD DO THAT. In the EIGHT YEARS since New Leaf came out I have NEVER SEEN THAT! Not in my towns, not in the countless youtube lets plays ive watched, NEVER!
Rodney did that to me on purpose because he is a sneaky CONNIVING evil MASTERMIND.

I still like him and it's fun having an archnemesis. It's like Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platapus.

Honestly, I strongly dislike Rodney, even before I knew that other people hated him. He was the first villager to appear in my campsite so I felt obligated to recruit him to my island, but he rubbed the wrong way from the start. It didn't help that he appeared with a beer (soda) can in hand in his first appearance. My sister pointed out that he was reminding me of a character from a different game that my character married out of pity. I then sorely regretted it as he lazed around the house while watching me do all of the work, had an incredibly messy room, and constantly talked about alcohol.

Rodney is too interestingly weird to not have on my island.I like that he's the same color as a major brand of power tools.I sent my Rodney a Raymond costume set(waistcoat and glasses)and he wears it around the island quite a bit.Maybe I should call him Rayney......Rodmond?

I'm pretty neutral about him tbh, but I'm glad people like him!

Rodney's in kind of a weird middle-of-the-road spot for me. He has a neat, unique design with the teal fur, the pink hair patch, and the freckles. He's a Smug which is kind of a mixed bag for me; Smug was my favorite male personality in New Leaf, but their dialogue in New Horizons leaves a lot to be desired and Cranky is my new favorite personality for the male villagers. He has a pretty decent interior design to his house.

There are a lot of villagers who I prefer and would rather have in my games, but I'd also take him over a bunch of other villagers. You can do worse than Rodney.

I always plan out my residents in my games and I don't really see myself choosing him compared to a bunch of others who I want to experience, but I wouldn't mind having him as a resident in a game if I were to hypothetically just let the RNG decide things and he showed up.

I actually like him. Judging by his design, you’d expect a Lazy villager. Instead, he’s a Smug villager.
