What caused the fire?

A bit ago I saw the following vid and brought it up to my dad. The guy in the vid tests out a variety of kitchen gadgets, and was sent a grilled cheese sandwich toaster.

My dad is convinced that the fire started due to the shredded cheese getting loose in the toaster. I'm thinking the extension cord alone could caused something. Then there is the adapter and the fact it is a American product in a British outlet. Am I missing another possible cause?

It’s the fact he’s using the wrong voltage. It’s using twice as much power.

Yeah,Bowie is right.The adapter he used doesn't convert voltage so the 120 volt toaster thingy got zapped with 230-240 volts.Even with the correct voltage I don't think that thing would make a decent grilled cheese sandwich.

Since it already got answered, just wanted to say: Glad to see someone else who is watching him.
I'm not a big fan of cooking, but he's making it very enjoyable to watch. :3

I've seen bags designed to hold a grilled cheese in a normal toaster and I don't think I'd trust those if they did fit.

Regardless of voltage that’s just a dumb design. Cheese melts fast and is hard to clean. Just buy an electric skillet. Grilled cheese isn’t even that hard.
