What do you think the main "hook" for this Animal Crossing will be? The Gamecube version and Wild World didn't really have hooks, for obvious reasons, but, City Folk had the city and New Leaf has you as the mayor. Those are their main "hooks" I would say. What do you think this new version's will be? Based off of a lot of the requests from players I've seen, as well as PC, I think that'll it'll be deeper relationships.

A relationship meter with villagers, more personality, more dialogue, more small tasks, et cetera. The main problem people have with New Leaf is the lack of dialogue and personality with some of the villagers. PC is literally just about deeper relationships with villagers. Those two factors combined make me think that this AC will be about more "alive" villagers!

I'm thinking it will still involve the camping aspect, due to the RVs in NL and then the whole theme of Pocket Camp.
So maybe you're still the mayor? In certain ways. I haven't really thought much about it really.

I do hope villagers feel more interesting. In NL, they got extremely stale. In ACS, I hope there is more they can do, and things we can do with them to keep it more interesting. I feel bad for not speaking to villagers, but it feels like a chore nowdays due to how boring the same text can get.

I hope not. I'm over the camping aspect

I definitely don't think they'll go with a camping aspect. It works for Pocket Camp because it's mobile, and New Leaf already used a camping 'bonus' aspect.

As for what I think, I think they may try for a 'country side' style of town.

I was thinking Country too but like including farming but that's not big enough to be a main hook, even though I want to grow and harvest vegetables.

I think the main hook could be like exploring and going to different areas to collect materials, unique bugs and fish exclusive to the area, do activities related to the environment. New leaf suffers in one aspect because the world is so small and there's only so much you can do. Several new environments with a large amount of new activities could really help.

I think it would be cool if they could somehow make it like Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley, two other games that are low-stakes and popular like AC. Like, obviously, you wouldn't be marrying the animals, but your villagers could have certain cut scenes or storylines you could unlock. I know there's like a billion characters, but looking at how expansive BotW is, I think the Switch could handle that kind of load.

I also would like the towns to be bigger with more options for decorating. I've really liked the PWP of New Leaf and hope they continue that. Maybe they could also incorporate the designing aspect of HHA so you can further customize your villager houses. Maybe you could have little quests to complete for them too.

It would also be neat to have different landscapes to pick from. Like maybe some of us get mountain towns, beach towns, verdant fields, deserts, etc. I think it would be so cool to see that kind of variety and what we can all do with it.

Good question—perhaps a larger town that incorporates the best elements from previous games?

The Gamecube version and Wild World didn't really have hooks, for obvious reasons

wild world's hook was totally 100% that it was the first portable animal crossing

and cube crossing's hook was just about everything, being a brand new franchise release and all (at least for the west)

Wild World's hook is in its title (Wild world, i.e wifi/the ability to connect with other players from around the world). At least that's my take on it.

Whatever the hook turns out to be I just hope it's deep enough to keep me invested.

oh yeah, it somehow always escapes me how rather bad cube crossing's method of town travel was

plus it being the first online connectivity animal crossing game would've been a rather huge factor for the time

My hook idea: climate change and immediate evacuation of the land
Seek shelter 2 miles under ground as the earth's crust gets peeled away by a 5km diameter asteroid. The earth's surface as you know it destroyed.

No idea what happens next

I highly doubt anything like this would happen, but...

Resort town! A parking zone off to the side for RVers to still come and hang out. You can designate villa (house) building zones, and villagers are more likely to ask your assistance in making it just right for them (incorporating the option to have more control over villager interior design but it’s not mandatory). A wider landscape- perhaps one area is strictly for recreation and no houses could be built there (maybe that would be the new event plaza?) so you can plant/build to your hearts content. Beach PWPs as well, can’t have a fancy resort town without some umbrellas or a fire pit or the like. You don’t have the pressures of being mayor, and heck, Snooty and Cranky types could even slip into sort of the Entitled Customers type trope if they don’t know you well yet |D The Islsnd can make a return as a destination, maybe outside of club tortimer, you could see villagers there sometimes??(especially if the island size was expanded a bit...)

And of course, the city nearby with all the nice shopping, a local museum, club, maybe The Roost goes there too?

It could be a fun way to continue the vacation/etc themes they’ve been introducing with WA and PC, a great way to keep the player designing the town but without all the mayoral duties... and here’s a thought, maybe you get a salary based on how developed the place is/how satisfied the villagers are? Not s game breaking amount of course, but something so you can better fund the development without making it too easy to slack off and line your own pockets.

So essentially, deeper customization of your townscape and being able to form more gradual/enduring friendships... I just got really carried away whoops |D

I really like the idea of beach PWPs. Maybe they could make the beach area a little bigger too.

Is it? The fact that you needed a town on another GC memory card without internet was ingenious at the time, but I’ll admit that somethings are a bit outdated.

If you wanted to go a friends town, they’d have to come over with their memory card and even then, you couldn’t play together, so I guess it’s bad in the multiplayer aspect of the game, but they did alright with the traveling.

I really like the idea of beach PWPs. Maybe they could make the beach area a little bigger too.

I’ve seen some people with hacked towns were they put PWP stuff like the lounge chair on the beach and I’m all for more freedom of were Pwps can be placed in the world.

I've seen this too! It was really pretty! On that same note, I've seen people hack rocks and stuff into places where they shouldn't belong. It would be cool to be able to control that too.

PC is literally just about deeper relationships with villagers. Those two factors combined make me think that this AC will be about more "alive" villagers!

Just because theres a heart meter that gets filled more doesn't mean its deeper.

PC villagers are just a shallow as NL. They need to add more variety in personalities.

I just hope it looks just as dreamy as the other games. I like HD but I hope they don?t make it too realistic. That?s just my opinion though.

I hope we're still Mayor on the new one. Though more dialogue and tasks is a must have. I'm tired of hearing the same thing everyday and honestly I like when they give tasks, it makes it more fun! Plus deeper relationships sound nice too.

Woah! That's a smart idea. Nice thinking! I hope they think about adding a feature like that. Though I'd rather keep the job being Mayor, that's just my opinion though.
