What happeneds at special events?

So I'm fairly new to TBT, and the only 'event' I have seen is the fire festival. I was wondering what happeneds at Easter and Halloween for the collectables. Is it a hunt or what? Sorry I'm just new and I have no idea.

Usually for events, they're very similar to the Fire Festival in terms of how you get the collectibles: you participate in contests to earn some sort of special currency (easter uses eggs, TBT fair uses tickets, etc) and you use them to buy different ones. Most are giftable, so the Fire Fest's flame collectibles are sorta unique in that sense.
In the case of some events, the prizes (instead of trophies) are the special collectibles, as for the TBT fair.
And finally, some events like Halloween, the collectibles are released via shop restock. They usually have one or two that have infinite stock though, for some who miss the restock so they can still get some, like yellow candy. But sadly, you have to be on when the restock happens or you won't get any others. Also, noting Halloween, a couple Dark Candies are distributed that "curse" people, which basically gives you a special highlighted name like the Fire Fest if you get it. People go nuts though around Halloween, which is why I tend to stay off the forums then xD

And then of course after each prize giveaway/restock, if you stalk the forums at the right time, you can get a lot really cheaply if you're lucky, since a lot of people just join to quickly sell them to make TBT.

Halloween - Yellow candy always in shop, Red, Green then Blue slowly added to the shop and restocked throughout Halloween. On Halloween day, Dark candy curses everyone who gets it gifted to them, and they pass it on. Spooky toothpaste used to cure the curse

Fair - Tasks to complete that earn you tickets (Photography, IRC quizzes, ect) which you spend on collectibles, includes R/G/B/Y feathers (Unlimited), B/G Balloons (Unlimited), Purple/Pink/White Feathers + Red Pinwheel (Limited) + Badge , Real Life prizes (Pillows + Prize pack), and raffles (Game case, amiibo)

Easter - Riddles posted and eggs hidden throughout the forum, click on them to get them. Exchange them for egg collectibles. (Painfully hard)

At least, that's what I've experienced so far

It varies. There is no guarantee that because we do something one year that we'll do the same thing the next.

A few examples:

• the Fire Festival is this summer's event, but last year we had a Beach Party where users entered castle-building and collectible creating events.
• the last three Easters we've had a forum-wide egg hunt, but who knows - we might shake it up in 2016!
• Halloween 2013 had users following riddles to obtain an Ancient Lamp and Dusty Scroll collectibles, while Halloween 2014 had more of a trick o' treat type theme and encouraged people to spread around collectibles to curse and cure each other. The Woods (a special board that appears on the forum from time to time) was opened up both of these years too.
