What happens if you forget to deliver something?

Yesterday bangle asked me to deliver something to phoebe and she wanted it done that day. I was on my way to find phoebe when Melba asked to visit my house and wanted a tour. My ADD brain completely forgot about the package until just now when I. Started up my game. Can I still deliver it? I would try but phoebe is sleeping right now

Probably after a certain amount of time, it'll be too late and they'll most likely just forget about it. Not entirely sure though.

They will forget after a few days. I accidentally sold the last gift I was supposed to deliver, and I just avoided those two villagers for a few days, and they act like nothing happened.

When I forgot, I opened the gift and avoided that person for days and then when I thought it was long enough that they should've forgotten, the next time I talked to them they were like, "YOU OPENED THE GIFT FOR ____?!" They cried and I felt horrible.

If you talk to the villager that gave you the request the next day, they'll ask for the gift back, that's all. If you've sold it off, then they're more or less are just "oh that's weird, whatever" and move on.

Yes, last time I had this happen Vivian just chastised herself for “delegating” after I’d already opened and sold her gift and thus couldn’t deliver it
