It's caused tension, especially with my mother and I but it hasn't damaged our relationship. Some of the things she says are ridiculous.

yeah i'll cut out intolerant right-wing family members in a heartbeat if they cannot handle me calling them like i see them. i don't feel guilty or miss the ones i have cut. you can't pretend you accept me as a real woman and not support my rights, i don't care what your preferred mythological coping mechanism tells you, it's cognitive dissonance, stepfather.

There used to be a lot of tension. Every member of my family is a staunch Trump supporter, so I started voicing my opinions and then they started getting mad at me. They don't want to hear my views, so I don't listen to theirs. It's as simple as that.

My immediate family and I have the same political views so we definitely understand each other. The extended family members that have radical views are people we only see at Christmas so it's not that hard to smile and nod for like 2 hours a year while we wait for them and their racist/sexist/homophobic views to die off.

Hasn't done anything, except make my sister scream incoherent stuff about Trump being stupid or whatever. Other than that, my family isnt very politically involved :p

We talk about politics sometimes but never long enough or more important enough to cause fights. We mainly have the same views, like how we all agree with trump sucks and kathleen wynne sucks too so we all discuss how they need to be abolished asap and that can be fun, hehe. My dad is beginning to like trudeau a lot more than he did before after seeing the mess trump is and is causing so we're bonding a little bit over that. We both agree that trudeau is waaaaay better but still has his problems too, of course.

I don't talk politics with my fam. Not because of any unwillingness to debate about things that matter to me, but because trying to discuss anything with them is like talking to a brick wall with their constant talking over anything I say and unwillingness to admit anything they say is wrong.

no because we are respectful to each other's views thanks

Unlike some people here, anyways....

My family aren't very politically involved and we all are rather left winged so we're just fine. c:

It's same here in my fam. My dad's very ignorant and stubborn, so there's no point debating with him. And mum doesn't really care so I like to push my opinions onto her lol. My mum's side all vote for the same party and I don't talk to my dad's side so I have no clue. But yeah, my dad and I definitely have opposing opinions, that's for sure.

I'm not from America so our election is yet to come, so idk if things will change in 9 months time lmao

My family doesn't talk about politics, and I'm pretty happy that's the way it is. The last thing we need in our lives is sharing our different views on politics and ruining our relationships just for talking about them. There's far more important things to do instead of debating, anyway.

Just tension. Mostly because me and my boyfriend don't vote, so we'll say something off hand, not even to her, and she'll be like "You didn't vote you don't get to complain." it's just irritating, I don't like talking about politics at all anyways.

Politics kind of divide my family. My grandpa is a patriotic Republican. He supported Trump and was against Obama (I personally don't like Trump but I never say anything about politics). Since I live in the same house with him during the elections he put up a Trump support sign over our door's roof. I hated staring at it whenever I walked back into the house. Someone tried to take down the sign and my grandpa posted up a paper talking about whoever did that was a coward and etc.. I'm not going to say anymore because he shows off his patriotism quite a lot but I don't want my comment to go on forever.
