I been playing a lot of Steins;Gate recently and spoiler alert It has to do with time travel. Anyways, this got me curious on the subject of Space and Time. More precisely, Time. Does it exist? Is it measurable? Can we observe it? And most importantly, can we manipulate it?

I am no physicist but I've been searching up their observations and opinions of the matter. The more I hear, the more I get intrigued so that's why I'm asking here for your opinions.

As Don't Hug Me I'm Scared taught me, Time is a concept of human perception. Or was it "Time is important and I am a clock"?

Time is a concept of human perception.

I hear that a lot though. Many theories state that time may not exist and is only a measurement used by humans. While others have said that time exists in unison with space, making space-time.

I myself still don't have a concrete idea to go off and I'm only listening to what experts have said.

This is pretty much what I think. Obviously the passage of "time" is evident, but the concept of minutes, hours, days, years, etc. is man-made.

Though there are some very credible theories out there that state that time does exist and can be measured.

Wouldn't other units for length, weight, volume, ect. be man-made as well though?

Ok, here's some thought questions.
  1. Do you think time affects people differently?
  2. Why does time seem to speed up sometimes and then slow down?
  3. Could each person have their own perspective on time?
  4. Could my present be your future/past?
  5. Would it then be possible to manually speed-up/slow-down one's time?

don't even get me started on this lmao those are my daily thoughts along with "why are we on this planet?" "why is everything?".
It's obvious that time passes... right. But it's such a complex concept to grasp... like there is os many aspects of time this question can't be answered of course.
It's weird to think that we popped here while billions and billions of "years" passed before humans "arrival" on earth.
And it's even weirder to think how everything is gonna continue once we're gone, like, eventually all the stars will die, so will the galaxies and even the black holes.
But it will eventually happen, but it'll be in such a LONG time that it's almost unthinkable.
I can't say much except that this whole time and space things are way too hard for me to completely grasp.

Check this vid if you're interested by this, it's what helped my form a "decent" opinion on time

Thanks for your input and the fascinating video. It's truely mind boggling that one day all those things in our galaxy will eventually die. Do you think life will be able to live past that point? Or will the world just be reborn?

Could there have been a previous world already and died out before the big bang?

It's possible.
What is a given, though, is that one day we'll all cease to exist. It'll be as if we never existed. Perhaps no record or trace will be left of our existence either. Are there or were there other civilizations out there as advance or more advanced than we are? Considering how rare it was for us to have gotten this far in the evolutionary tree and how many times humans almost went extinct before we've reached this level, probably not, but who knows.

I hear scientists now think it's even more rare to find life (as advanced as we are) out there. Too bad humans have a tendency of wiping each other out in warfare, race wars, ect.

I don't think we'll ever make it past this solar sytem into another inhabitable one, considering all the dangers of space travel. Humans will die here. Or possibly the future may lie with AI or androids.

Who knows.

If life did re emerge and became advanced as we are again, I'd imagine it would have a similar history. I believe history repeats itself.

What does any if this have to do with time?

Idk just came to mind when I thought about it. :p

Another thought question: If time travel was invented today, how would it change the world?

How do you think other nations would react? Let us say that the USA rn said they were capable of building a working time machine. Could wars possibly break out over which government can obtain control over time first? Just like the race to space but on a much grander scale.

On another note, if time travel existed, would anything said or done matter any more? How would life move on knowing that their past and future are all written in stone...
