whenever i make sandwiches myself at home i use toast, cheese, and usually some sort of meat and put it in the microwave until the cheese has melted. it's great.
the few times i have been to subway i have gotten salad and chicken mostly. i'm not a huge sandwich expert
So long as it’s edible, any sandwich is perfect and ideal for me. But I’ll say it’s enhanced when the bread is toasted. Anything else is like icing on the cake

i'm not picky as long as it doesn't have cilantro (will probably kill me. i had some on food that never made me sick before it was added, my arm went numb, couldn't really breath well, and i felt like i was going to die. there have been times since where a bit has gotten on my food or i wasn't told but luckily i always check but just a tiny bit makes my head throb and i feel like i'm gonna heave/super dizzy) or oranges (sucks because i crave them bad sometimes but they make me break out in hives and feel sick but luckily nothing like the cilantro so i can actually have some but just get massive headaches or feel icky.) on it i'll try anything once. my favorites though are whole wheat bread, peanut butter, and sliced bananas but i'll also enjoy a tuna salad sandwich on whole wheat with provolone cheese.
update: i also love LOVE pb&j’s. they’re super nostalgic and they make me happy. i know grilled cheeses and pb&j’s are “childish” but i love them a lot

Publix sub sandwich, mustard, lite mayo, no meat (vegetarian), any type of cheese, lettuce, onion, green pepper, banana pepper, jalapenos, black olives, oil, vinegar, salt & pepper and has been sitting wrapped up in the fridge for a few hours lol
I've had many more sophisticated sandwhiches that were really good but the only specific sandwhich I love that I can think of right now is grilled cheese
sourdough bread, obviously. caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, with baby swiss, fresh mozzarella pieces, melted under nice homemade butter. grilled on a pan to perfection. and then pickles. a jar of pickles on the side.
Back in my college days, I would eat crisp sandwiches (sounds disgusting now). A packet of McCoy's ridge cut cheddar and onion crips in a buttered bagel kept me going.
Us brits put anything in our sandwiches come to think of it.
I'm Dutch and I put anything on my sandwiches as well.
For example, I can combine (preferably crunchy) peanut butter with lots of other ingredients, e.g. cheese, ham, cucumber, chocolate sprinkles (which is commonly known as 'hagelslag' among us Dutchies), any red fruit jelly, banana, pickles, tuna... you name it. (But not all at the same time ofc XD)
That's comfort food. Reminds me of a couple my Mom used to make when I was little - peanut butter and honey or Spanish olives (green with pimento) and cream cheese.
