What kind of content is recommended to you by the algorithm on IG, TikTok, etc?

On twitter, most of the recommended content are cat accounts since I follow and chat with so many of them 🙂.

On Instagram I’m given ads for anime merch, anime events in the Pacific Northwest, anime streaming services I already have, and nerdy tattoo artists. The rest of the time I’m given ads for events and shows happening in my area.

So far as Tiktok and Instagram go... its just a looot of political news, which makes sense given Im in the politics field. Youtube, however, knows that the political world is relentless and so instead shows me political memes. This David Cameron meme gotta be one of my favourites of all time.

From the ones listed above, I just have Instagram. It seems to be a mix of work lunch ideas, Japanese and Korean food, cozy pastel gaming setups, nostalgia posts (for some reason), art, and junk.

My YouTube recommendations consist mostly of iceberg videos, Vocaloid songs, video essays, Homestuck-related videos, and the occasional viral video from 5 to 18 years ago. Does that say anything about me?

I'm glad I don't have the stupid dances in my feed.
The algorithms know me well! insta - memes , Tik Tok suggests cute kittens. If you're looking to grow your own social media presence, discover more now

It suggests me mostly cats and dogs videos, forest, snow, nature pictures and news about astronomy. These days i have candles, because my mom bought a scent candle to gift and we use the same computer. Once i had just creuset pots.

Instagram suggests me a bunch of drag queens and chubby, hairy dudes. (This is purely based on who I follow and interact with.)

On YouTube it’s

—pro wrestling

—lost media

—iceberg videos

—music

—video essays

—gaming

—reaction videos

Also accurate to what I watch lol.

The only one of those accounts I use is youtube and I mainly get suggested: music, gaming stuff, anime/shows/movies especially ones I was looking up recently, animal videos. I also get all kinds of weird videos mixed in I hadn't thought of, like those internet checkpoints, or some creepy video with no title, or something random from over a decade ago I wonder why it is showing me just now.

most of the algorithms on social media sites show me garbage that i don't want to see but at the same time i always have my privacy settings on the maximum so i think they're just giving me the stuff they would give to a new user with little to no history, which is awful. they really need to stop shoving ai down our throats. give us the option to turn it off i'm BEGGING!

On my Instagram shorts I am shown a mix of the following:

Makeup
Crochet content
I get videos of babies lol and children's toys! Which is helpful as a toddler teacher
Animals (pets and wildlife)
Cooking videos
Fashion videos

Every now and then I get cozy game recommendations but that's not super frequent.

for tik tok, off the top of my head it’s usually cat videos, crochet tutorials, recipes, short videos of various different shows (it’s usually often videos of law and order svu and greys anatomy for some reason even though i’ve never watched either shows before) i’ll sometimes see videos of thrift/shopping hauls too!

On Instagram my algorithm is pet videos, silly cats, fitness/body building content made by People With Menstruating Cycles (yeah, long way to say it but I mean it) and weird funny meme people.
On Youtube it seems the algorithm doesn't understand I like bodybuilding content made by PWMC (see above) because I want to get strong and big working with hormonal fluctuations that AMAB people don't get, because all I get is fat loss and diet content recommended to me instead... No, I don't want to try the weird 1 week crash diet nor do I want to see someone else do that.

As of right now, I mainly get content about rock/metal music and Stardew Valley on YouTube. It's about the same with my Pinterest feed, but with some of my other interests like The Legend of Zelda.
