What method are you using for villager photos?

During the last few months I’ve picked up villagers photos by giving them a wrapped stack of 10 native fruit daily which generally leads to me getting their photo within about 3 weeks.

I have previously used wrapped fossils and pearls and they’ve both worked well too and they’re all safe options to not change villagers wardrobes or house interiors if you want to avoid that, plus all villagers like those gifts.

The plain regular way. I give clothes and furniture that would match them. I don't expect photos but when I do receive them, it feels great knowing they are putting all my gifts to good use

since the fruit stack method no longer works, i’ve been gifting wrapped giant clams instead and while i haven’t really been keeping count, i’ve gotten around 4 photos with this method so far! i’ll also switch things up every once in a while and gift clothing that matches the villager’s favourite style/colour as well.

Another pumpkin giver here. Three wrapped pumpkins a day usually gets their picture within a couple of weeks.

I was also using the fruit stack method up until they changed the photo mechanism, so now I've switched over to two wrapped foreign fruits! haven't had any success yet but I don't think I've been doing it regularly enough to have anyone in the right range for giving me their gift. been trying to collect giant clams to use those, plus on occasion I'll give a good ol' piece of clothing that fits their style

I give gifts daily to each villager I haven't yet received a pic from. I give furniture I think would look good in their house, or clothes I think would suit them!

I've been using the wrapped non-native fruit method and it's been working for me.

maybe i should try that with my oranges, cherries, peaches, pears & coconuts :3 cause i gave sally, poppy, julian & i think it was also blanche a apple a while ago :3

remember it has to be multiples, depending on the sell value for the fruit. It needs to add up to at least 750 bells - so 2 non native fruits, 3 coconuts or pumpkins, or 8 native fruits.

for items that sell for 250 - 750 (like a single non-native fruit) you will receive a gift in return, but never be able to receive a picture in return, though you do still get friend points from gifting it.

I do the iron wall lamp technique but, based on what everyone's saying... it sounds like gifting assessed fossils might be the more popular method? Is that more efficient or something? ô_o

it’a not more efficient, but it does not add to the villager’s inventories, so it is a preferred method for those who want the villagers/ houses to be ‘original’

it you don’t care about that then the wall lamp should work fine - and it generally takes a lot before you would notice anything disappearing from their houses.

I think the inventory size is something like 36?

sorry just saw this reply - yes, to get a photo back you have to wrap the fruit, because you need the gift value to be 750+ and no single fruit is worth that much.

if you try to hand them an unwrapped stack it will only give them one out of the stack, and so the value will not be high enough.

they also ‘like’ wrapped gifts more.

yeah, you will get return gifts with single non-native fruit, just never a photo. So all these rules are just if you want to get villager photos.

if you don’t care about that, then there are no rules for just gifting for fun.

even though i never really like mira all that much * i'm not sure about the placement of her mouth * , i still want to get her photo.. kinda.... before she moves...

& i want to move in rudy, marshal & pashmina via amiibo, in replacement of biff, bubbles & julian... so i want their photos ^^ since i have ketchup for a peppy now :3

I gift them 2 wrapped foreign fruits, or sometimes clothes. I haven't been very consistent with gifting in the past, but I've been doing this more and I finally got my first photo yesterday!
