• Guest, can you feel the love in the air? Valentine's Week at The Bell Tree has begun with a new mini-event featuring four activities to enjoy -- new and returning collectibles are up for grabs! Dive in to the love here.

What NL features do you wish were in NH?

The two things I most desperately wish were in this game are full 10x10 expansion for all rooms in player housing and minigames.

10x10 for all rooms in player housing because interior design has always been my main draw to the series, I've had multiple concepts ruined by the awkward room sizes we have now not allowing me to fit everything I want to, and because it frankly sucks to have the animal villagers getting to have those huge rooms in Happy Home Paradise while ours are smaller.

Minigames because there's frankly nothing worth doing online together with friends in New Horizons and it's something my best friend and I enjoyed doing in New Leaf.

I made a post a while back in a different thread with a whole lot of stuff that I wish was included in New Horizons. Here it all is:
- Minigames. Ideally, Tortimer wouldn't have been relegated to the role he has in New Horizons of being a storage locker, the mystery islands could've been a new feature for the Dodo Airlines, and Kapp'n still could've taken us to Club Tortimer. Or they could have worked out some alternative. But without minigames, there's little to do with friends online other than visit each other's shops for like five minutes and then leave.

- 10x10 expansion for all rooms of player housing. While some people are able to get enjoyment out of the proportions of the side rooms, second floor, and basement, I've had multiple concepts ruined by the rooms being too cramped to fit everything I want. As someone who cares more about interior design, has decorated their island as much as I'm going to and doesn't care about terraforming, part of the main appeal to the series for me just kind of...sucks in this installment. And it feels pointless to let us use the HHP pillars in our homes when the rooms are so awkward and restrictive.

- Home exteriors with more variety like the ones in New Leaf.

- Gracie and her fancy furniture and clothing. I love the Gorgeous Set of furniture in particular.

- Bulk crafting.

- Manilla clam stacks. Yes, I know they're living creatures, but you aren't donating them to the museum, and when you're making bait it's just inconvenient to have them take up so many individual slots in your pockets, have to head to the DIY bench, go back to digging. Especially with how many fish baits can be necessary for some rare fish.

- Able Sisters shopping cart.

- More hairstyles, particularly black hairstyles, and a stark white hair color option.

- More wetsuit colors/designs.

- Golden tools getting patched to not break. It seems pointless to earn them.

- Fossil miniatures from Cyrus if you have all of the pieces, like in New Leaf.

- Ores.

- Perfect fruit and dead trees. They would've looked nice with New Horizons' higher graphics.

- They'd never do it, since they were meant as a punishment, but I've always wanted rafflesias in these games. Unfortunately you could only get them by not developing your town in New Leaf by having less than 3 Public Works Projects, but that was impractical.

- All of the classic families of gyroids. While the new, smaller, cuter designs appeal to more people, I miss the old style. There were a bunch of different ones I liked.

- Snowman, Snowmam, and Snowtyke would be cool. Or, at least just Snowman. I loved Snowman Bingo.

- The campsite having an igloo instead of a tent during Winter.

- Mii masks maybe? I liked using them sometimes in New Leaf.

Probably more too, but that's what comes to mind readily. Might post again if I think of anything.

Oh I agree with this 100%. I was so angry that you couldn't resize your own home on your island when you get the Room Size feature from Happy Home Paradise. What kind of nonsense is that? Like you said in New Leaf we were able to resize our room size sure we had to pay a lot of bells but at least it gave us more room to put more stuff.

I can't tell you how many times I had my concepts ruined by these limitations. Which is why I had to create so many homes (users) on my main island just to get different ideas. Its really funny how Happy Home Paradise lets you do a whole lot more customization on every villager homes, but you cannot have that same experience on your own island. Don't get me wrong I do appreciate the update allowing us to let us customize villager homes on our island, but all the same it just feels too limited.

Something else I remembered: In New Leaf, the mail came twice per day. In New Horizons, it only comes once. Which means everything you do has a waiting period of 24 hours.

And on the subject of waiting periods, this was something I found rather obnoxious in New Leaf as well. I think these sort of things should have a variable time based on... well, when it makes sense for them to be completed, rather than all being defaulted to "the next day." Why does it take 24 hours to cancel the construction of a bridge or incline that hasn't even started yet? That's incredibly nonnsensical.

  1. The biggest want for me has to be Re-tail. I miss the functionality it provided for selling your unwanted items.
  2. The final Nook's Cranny shop with 3 floors (Including Gracie's shop).
  3. Fortune Cookie items.
  4. Club LOL. Happy Home Paradise sort of remedied this, but DJ K.K. only performs every 2 weeks and for about 1.5x days. In New Leaf it was every night 6 days a week.
  5. Order more than 5 catalog items, and get mail twice a day.

i’d honestly love it if every feature from new leaf (minus villagers being able to move out on their own and having to plot set to get villager houses where you want them) was also in new horizons, but i’d love these ones especially.

tortimer’s island, club tortimer and minigames.
perfect and tropical fruits.
being able to play hide-and-seek with villagers.
pelly, phyllis, pete and the post office.
the ability to order 10 items from your catalog every day instead of only 5.
the roost being its own building instead of being in the museum.
the roost’s part-time job minigame.
the building exterior customization and bridge options. i miss the fairytale bridge and mermaid house exterior tbh lol.
all of the furniture that’s currently missing. 2.0 added in a lot and i’m so grateful, but i’d love to see some of the items like the morning glory and the snow bunny come back as well.
heart and bunny-shaped balloons.
small details like the campsite turning into an igloo in the winter, your character shivering in the winter/sweating in the summer, etc.
dr. shrunk teaching you reactions instead of your villagers.
npcs like wendell, phineas, etc.
weeding day, blanca and april fools day, the tiny events like that. i miss them. 😕
having to escort katie to other towns.
nook’s cranny upgrades.
fortune cookie items.
being able to pick up flowers instead of having to dig them up.

It’s a long list so I’ll just say one of my top faves: The mini games on Tortimer Island!

Whether played with strangers or friends, some of the games were just extra hilarious and chaotic played with others.

One is the frantic toy hammer game with that crazy lawn mower where inevitably we end up bopping each other by accident, good times lol.

The balloons popping with pitfalls, and item-matching memory games were also insane played by 4 ppl at once, really missed that :p

wait we DON’T?? i just realized that :,)
why would they make it harder for us on purpose
Just to pander the game because Nintendo seems to think we should take our time with it. While I do understand that AC is meant to be a relaxing game that doesn't excuse them from not adding the search function.

This! Man....even with the update, there's so much that ACNH lacks. Though still a good game, it could've been AMAZING with the features I bolded/made bold in your response. It just makes me think that the game overall was purposely unfinished. Looking at these features now, it makes you wonder what was going on in their minds.
(Just to be clear to everyone: I'm referring to the MAIN/BASE game, not HHP.)

Tortimer island, and the Zelda and Splatoon furniture and villagers. It seems weird to me that Nintendo would have 3rd party Sanrio villagers, but no 1st party ones. Also, I miss non-breaking tools.

Ikr? I don't know how to say this without coming off as pretentious, but whenever I play New Horizons, it seems like some parts of it was coded by people who were new to coding, rather than seasoned veterans.
