What the question says. One of my accts. is supposed to be a farmer/inn host. However, I can’t make up my mind on the basement. The blueprint for the other rooms are:

Living room: Reception/ buffet area
Backroom: A regular 1 bed hotel room
Left room: Another 1 bed hotel room
Right room: Kitchen/supplies room
Second floor: Either a suite or two rooms

I’ll leave the poll open for a month before using the winning option.

i like the idea of a gym and pool in the lower level! that feels true to life.
conversely, if you were interested in changing things up, i wonder how it would be to do the pool/gym on the top floor and do something like a food garden or meditation room or even a car park on the bottom floor!

The first thing that came to mind was a pub/bar sort of room. A bunch of seating around, whether that be tables and chairs or tables and couches/benches, a bar, some stuff like a dartboard and pool table(s).

Thank you everyone that has voted and suggested thus far. I’ve edited the poll to include the suggestions.

For my option on the poll, I noticed the word casino. Not so much the vibe I was envisioning. I was thinking much more laid back and leisurely. A place to get a drink and socialize and whatnot.

Here's the sort of vibe:

Figure billiards and darts fit in if there's enough room, but not necessary.

It's cool though if you want to combine the bar with the casino as an option, just figured I'd clarify more.

You’re right. I’m sorry. I didn’t notice my mistake after it was too late. It won’t let me edit the poll options, just lets me add more.

I think a wine cellar (thanks LambdaDelta) would be nice for what you're going for. Maybe you could even combine it with the storage room and use that extra room as a little game bar.

Or, even better, use the basement as the game bar and the storage room as intended with a mini winery.

I voted for wine cellar but I don’t know your island theme. Just in case you would consider something spooky:

Lab for human tests or trophy room of a serial killer. (Hotel is like a front to hunt down victims.)

By the way if you make a wine Celler give wine tasting area a go, could be nice 👍 you could also make part of the basement cheese aging room (there is an item called “double gloucester cheese” you can order a lot of it during an event from nook catalog.)

Maybe a room that people can relax, and enjoy games and books in. Not just video games. Have an area for people sit in sofas and a bookshelf.
Maybe a theatre? Or cinema room. But make it more farmy by using logs stool, or flower seats for people to sit on. Hay from the halloween pumpkin thing, if that makes sense.

I originally voted for swimming, gym area. But I didn't read down the entire list. So I actually think the wine cellar idea would be really "cool"...sorry couldn't resist. But as another poster mentioned even a wine bar...I would envision like those cozy coffee bars where you go in and sink into a comfy leather chair, there are bookshelves lining two of the walls and of course 1 or two walls could be the wines. I've been in places like that and I love them! Also, for some people who wouldn't feel comfortable with alcohol, coffee could be the drink. Actually as I am thinking of this and never having any out of the box ideas for my home.....its just boring bedrooms....all 5 rooms except the main room lol! (why??) I'm feeling inspired to actually try this out in my lower room! Looking forward to when you decide what you want to do with your room and I hope you share.

I thought of wine cellar immediately when I read the title of this thread. You could also do any type of alcohol cellar lol

Do what I did and set it up like a live music room with some floor lights, mic stand, and various instruments lined up across the back wall and a few chair for people to watch the performance.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’m going to create a character that represents my niece, because she doesn’t play NH anymore. One of her hobbies is singing, so I’m making a live music room in her basement.

Well, the poll isn't over, but I became inspired and decorated on Room Sketch. The basement's measurements should be
10x6🤞. Please excuse the horrible cropping and lack of sparkling cider.

The cellar looks small, I wasn't able to fit in any games, but I hope that this is close to what people had in mind when they were making suggestions.

honestly that's both exactly and well above and beyond what I had in mind

love the bar/relaxation area you've incorporated as well. got the atmosphere going just right
