What the... who's Nook's is upgrading on 24th?

Or spend 25,000 bells. Forgive me for siding with the guide, it just - ya know - seems to have all the answers.
The guide is wrong in numerous spots, I spent 25,000 bells on my 2nd day alone (bought out his whole shop and then al lthe rest in paper), he didnt upgrade for several days after that.

Prima guides are notorious for having wrong info here and there

Like where it says golden shovels take 4 days, when they only take 24 hours in reality.

Does it specifiy whether or not stationary counts as contributions to his store? Or for that matter, if it's POSSIBLE to update the market without a certain amount of time progression in addition to 25,000 bells spent? This game is a bit more whacky, but I can certainly trust the guide. The 25,000 bells was utterly accurate for my neighborhood - no complaints about accuracy from me.

I bought out his store every day, and of course stationary counts as a contribution, why wouldnt it? Im 99% sure it did in the previous 2 titles. Anyway, im just saying Prima Guides are notorious for omitting details/changing details here and there, just be wary of that. I dont believe its the 25k, its been reported multiple times that its something more. Im sticking by my theory of 2 possible upgrading criteria.

Because it's infinitely stocked and it is by no means, furniture. Being able to buy it out on stationary seems ridiculous. I hope they prevented that.

Two possible upgrading criteria? Such as time progression in addition to 25,000 bells? I made that suggestion.

It's been 25,000 bells in the predecessors, and if you trust that the game makers didn't change anything else, you can probably roll the dice on this as well.

Two criteria as in Time+25,000 bells OR X amount of bells

which would explain why some people upgraded early without TT, while others all upgraded around the same time.

X amount of bells would be 25,000.

This game works unusually, however. It seems as though the neighborhood limits how many neighbors can occupy spaces until further progression and remodeling is completed as well as other items.

Some one mentioned that after you spend 25k he will upgrade any where from 2-7 days later.
He will do it in 2 days if you spent the 25k and than the following 2 days DON"t buy or sell anything to him. Yes catalog counts as well.

it's probably 25k AND at least 1 week before he upgrades. it explains why everyone's nooks is grading up.

My Nook's Cranny is finally upgrading today (Thursday), too. I'm guessing that there is a week delay in place for everyone, depending on when they started their town.
