What was life like in the 90s?

Oh my... Hahaha 90's is my childhood years. Great cheesy years. So many great memories where I first had my nintendo console, watched anime like sailormoon, Yuyu Hakusho, Dragon ball Z, and so on.. :) I was born '89 like but I'm really glad That my childhood was in the 90s :-D

I remember a lot of purple and teal. Especially on cups.

Or how electronics and computers in particular had this nasty beige color. Sure don't miss that!

My experience of the 90s is much the same as others here; early PC gaming (Doom!), cartoons that are now regarded as classics, Pok?mon...I think the nostalgia mostly comes from being a more innocent time. When you're a kid life is relatively simple and you don't have to deal with the stresses and bull**** of being an adult. It's been really interesting to see how far technology has come in such a short period of time.

Oh my god, I absolutely detest that colour too. It's a sickly beige, I remember we had a trainset that had interior with the same colour, it was EVERYWHERE back then.

Does anyone remember or had even heard of the Amstrad? It was like an early implementation of PC gaming even though it wasn't a PC per se, it had classics on it like Dizzy The Egg, Head Over Heels and Blues Brothers. I guess it was more like a dedicated console but with a keyboard. My memory of it is pretty vague but I do remember how ridiculously hard Dizzy The Egg was...

lmao I was barely alive then so I couldn't really tell you.

probably a lot of horrible gaudy clothes tho

I have to say this about the '90s - I'll take JNCO jeans over skinny jeans any day.

Probably why I've always preferred boot cut jeans as an adult. They look more regular jean-ish, but they still have a little bit more fabric so they're more comfy. :)

A lot more social interaction.

Kids/teenagers played outside a lot more.

TV was campy and cheesy without being stupid.

Toys (Barbie and Action Figures made by Mattel specifically) were made with a higher quality grade.

Technology was booming enough to be astonished but not quickly enough that you'd be wasting your money as soon as you bought something. Tech nowdays becomes the old model so quickly.

Doesn't mean I know the difference of how rap music was back then from what we got today.

Nicki Minaj is what we got today and she's great. I'm guessing you're talking about Iggy Azalea though, so I can understand where you're coming from.

I was born in 1990 so I remember most of the 90s relatively clearly compared to you youngsters (get off my lawn). It was an awesome decade for sure and a great time to grow up. Programs for kids was more than just "here's some colorful cartoon characters to hold your attention but otherwise has no depth or story". It was smart and genuinely entertaining.
And the films! Don Bluth is still one of my favorite cartoonists and his films hold a special place in my heart. I think if I had been older in the 90s I still would have loved all that animation had to offer at the time, and it wasn't just the magic of childhood.

Video games too. And music. It was just a great time to be alive.

you can sum up the 90's in two words:

everything was so Seattle.

Before the 90's, everyone was like, Yeah Seattle i've heard of it, they have that football team with the neon green unis and Gary Payton's NBA team, the Sonics.

then Seattle took over the 90's:

--grunge music came out and suddenly everybody wanted to be a Seattle band, even tho the look wasnt very original iyam it was same as what those stoners wear that have the wallets attached to their belt loops by a little chain and that hang out between classes smoking cigarettes under the bleachers.

--Starbucks made chain coffeehouse a thing, for better or worse, and instead of espresso being the domain of Italian immigrants suddenly everybody in the nation turned into coffee snobs.

--Microsoft took over the world (this is before google took over the planet) with their Windows operating system and their word processing software. Before the 90's, a lot of computers were operated by using-- gasp-- DOS..!

so yeah, 90s= Seattle.
