What will happen if I downloaded the digital game and bought also the physical game?

What will happen if I downloaded the digital game and bought also the physical game and played it first/earlier than the digital release time? Will the digital copy will be unlocked?

Digital Copy is scheduled to be unlocked at 12pm on our timezone, while I can get the Physical Copy at 9-10am.

Will the digital copy will be unlocked? How about the save file playing physical one? Will it be carry over to the digital one?

Yes I will be buying both digital and physical copy. Physical copy just to play it ASAP (+ preorder bonus) then selling it once I unlock the Digital copy

Save data is saved to the internal hard drive, not the cartridge. Both digital and physical use the same save data, so owning both is absolutely useless unless you have two systems.

The save files are on the switch not the cartridge so having the digital and a physical wont give you two save files. If you use the same switch the same game will be there when you go to the digital copy. It wont be held on the physical at all

The digital copy has to check online to see if it's allowed to unlock. Right now if I click the icon it says "checking if software can be played... You cannot play this software yet." So having the physical copy and a save file shouldn't unlock the digital copy. But, the save file should carry over once the digital copy does unlock. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't!

Right. Playing the physical won't change this. Also, not only is it checking online, it needs to download a small patch. (According to Nintendo)

as others have said, owning both will only give you one island unless you own 2 consoles as the save data saves to the console itself now rather than the cartridge
