What's the Point of Isabelle's Villager Complaint Option?

Yeah I don't have DLC yet. Thanks for this info tho. I do plan to get the DLC pack soon along with the Nintendo Online Membership. I'm looking forward to those N64 games. Wish they had more tho like Paper Mario and Banjo Kazooie lol
Well um you probably should just get the stand online version thats like $24.99 because I've heard some troubling info about if your subscription is expired and you have the expanded version you may not be able to play the DLC.

Not through this method no. Although things might have changed since the 2.0 update so I reserve the right to be wrong :p but this is how it worked back then (pre-2.0).

You can still kick them out with non-Amiibo visitors from your camp though. If you want a visiting camper on your island to move in, do the following:

1. Talk to the visiting camper once, save the game.
2. Log back in and talk to them again till they ask if you want to play a game.
3. If you win said game, you can ask them to move in
4. The villager will then go ask Resident Services for a plot and come back saying they heard X villager is thinking of moving out
5. If X villager is not the one you want moved, immediately close the game (don't finish the dialogue, just close the game as soon as you see the name of the villager).
6. Repeat steps 2-4 till the correct villager is chosen
7. Profit

My memory is rusty but I believe this is the correct way.

Thank you so much!!! I didn't have the patience to hold out long enough to get rid of my duck problem, but Shino ended up in my campsite!! If it weren't for you, I'd have had no idea I could actually move her in. So, thank you!!! This helped me out and Shino is moving in tomorrow =33

I think the functionality got changed with the update. Before 2.0, complaining about clothing put the villager in their default outfit for a while, but it didn't reset their wardrobe or anything. Now, doing so puts the villager in a Nook Inc. Shirt, and it might reset their wardrobe, given how complaining about the way they speak resets their catchphrase and nicknames.
i just hope this is not a satire. haha 🤣

The purpose of that feature is to clean up a villager that you got from some *******'s void who thought it would be funny to have their villager call you a ***** and wear a **** pic shirt.

What do you mean? o_O

I have no idea what you just said lmao

Oh! Speaking of this function, my friend Sherlock and I have a similar problem that we can't seem to fix and talking to Isabelle hasn't fixed it. Sherlock thought it would be funny to gift Apollo a towel wrap to see if he would put it on. Well, he did alright. And now he won't stop wearing it. I had thought it was hysterical until Kyle started walking around Paradisia in a bathrobe.

Talking to Isabelle doesn't make them stop.

On my end, Kyle moved out and I thought it was just Sherlock's problem again. I was wrong. Yesterday Zell asked me to deliver a gift to Cube for him. Lo and behold, it was a freaking pink towel wrap. Now it's my problem again and I really wish I knew how to fix it.

Isn't this supposed to be something complaining about a villager should fix..?

That's awesome! Glad I could help and congratulations on getting Shino!

Oof, I feel this xD
I once had a villager gift Rosie one of those instant muscles shirts and she wouldn't.stop.wearing it ;; I saw her in cute clothes occasionally, but no matter how often I talked to Isabelle, it didn't work. She moved out now, but I really hope they'll change that feature, because now I'm scared every time a villager brings another a gift, lol

There is (or at least there was pre-2.0) a work around to this, but requires you to mail or gift the villager 32 pieces of clothing.

To keep it short: every villager has a hidden inventory for clothing (and a separate one for indoor items) that keeps track of the pieces of clothing they have received by you/other villagers/etc. If you exceed this limit, they start replacing items in the order they received them in. So say the bathrobe was the very first piece of clothing they received. If you gift them 32 other pieces of clothing, you will exceed the limit and they will "let go" of their bathrobe.

Obviously gifting them one piece of clothing everyday will take 32 days to get to that point. Instead what you can do use the mail system instead and mass send them all clothing you want (mailing items has no effect on their friendship levels).

If you don't want to pick out a diverse wardrobe for them, just send 32 pieces of the same clothing. Should work just the same. Or just send them socks/shoes/pants as they are unable to wear them.

Remember though that they will of course let go of other pieces of clothing you have previously given them. Keep also in mind that they most likely will fill/replace existing items in their houses with pieces of clothing as decoration (there was a way to manipulate this, but far too complicated to explain and no longer relevant since you can just redecorate their houses now with the new DLC).

Sooo, update time. I thought everything was good since he alternated between his normal clothes and a hoodie I picked out for him a while back. I was wrong.

I had like 3 villagers at once before who insisted on wearing bath towls all the time.
I also had a couple who insisted on being nude (the blank whit T).
They have some pretty werid choices. I think you can help them get rid of stuff you don't like by gifting them more clothing.

It's a counter measure for villagers using offensive clothing or offensive phrases, when you adopt them, although it can work with your own choices.

If you change their clothes, it will only remove custom designs, if you gift them clothes, they will still use them. Idk if the update change it though.

Flora got a comedian suit, and even though I told her it wasn't her style she kept using it, I used this, but it didn't work, luckily I have her amiibo, so I did a manual reset.

If it makes you guys feel any better, Vladamir gave me a hair pin once. Yes, a hair pin lol. So I gave it back to him. And then... He started wearing it. I can't make this up 😂 😂 😂
