So did you just rush through the house designing making quick, basic houses, to get to the point you could decorate villagers homes on your own, or did you painstainkingly decorate each one really nicely?

I’ve been trying to decorate homes really nicely but it’s not always villagers I’ll necessarily keep permanently on HHP and I really would like to get to the point I can decorate my own villagers’ houses asap - plus I’m finding having limited time mostly due to work (I start at 8am or a little earlier and get home just after 6pm) making it hard to spend time decorating HHP homes as well as try and enjoy all the new features on my island! Am I right in thinking we can redecorate afterwards if we like? Pretty sure I read that!

Also less sure about this - if we’ve moved a HHP villager into a chosen location and decorated their house, am I then able to move them to a different location on the HHP paradise island or not? And also - is there a way to get HHP residents to move in to my home island?

Please and thanks for any help!

I had the mindset of doing them quickly and moving on but I always end up super absorbed in decorating ;-; this update/DLC came with so much new furniture that I'm drowning in decoration choices.

So what I usually intend to take less than ten ends up bordering upwards of thirty minutes sometimes, and it's only gotten longer and longer with the more decoration possibilities that unlock. I've gotten to the roommates so far, so as far as the progress of unlocking editing homes on my island I think I'm halfway there.

I know you can move villagers to different places, but I'm unsure if you can boot them from their vacation homes, sorry I can't be any help on that front!

I think I spend a lot of time on the interiors, but for the yards, a few bushes, trees of different sizes, matching flowers, and a little winding path usually looks nice.
I do know that it’s gonna take forever to get to the end of the DLC though😭

I won't spoil much but I will say when you get to the end, you unlock features that will help you with your villager homes, you just have to build a certain number of client homes. The more you do that the more stuff you unlock as well as new features.

I'm ashamed to say it, but it depends on who the character is and why I'm moving them permanently onto the archipelago.

The villagers I've moved in because I want to see them playing on the beach I've invested time and energy into producing homes I think look good. I go back to their houses, pick out roommates with matching aesthetics, and really keep upgrading their homes as new features unlock. They are here to relax and enjoy themselves.

Then there are the unfortunate souls I've selected to work at the HHP facilities 24/7. They get a basic home I plan to revisit in the future, one day.

Most of them I put at least decent effort into, but if I’ve gotten a bunch of similar requests in one go (yesterday I invited Mira, who wanted a retro scifi sort of thing, and had Cephalobot who’s more traditional scifi, and Boomer wanted a cafe with appliances… and a vaguely steampunk theme, it turned out,) I might be pretty drained towards the end. Cephalobot as the last one of those three was a bit phoned in.

I'm taking it slow... I've done one house a day, skipping a couple days, since the dlc came out. I don't care too much about unlocking the end-goal stuff, I'm just trying to enjoy it for what it is and not rush.

I painstakingly work on each one to get a complete theme. I normally start on the outside first and then do the interior.

I'm taking it slow and enjoying the process. I really love all my villagers since I restarted and I am slowly designing them vacation houses.

I thought I was just going to go in and rush everyone's house but at this point I am the exact opposite lol. I end up working really hard on every villager's home so I only get a few done at a time. The only one I completely rushed was Lionel's because I'm really not going to sit here and work for 30 minutes on a glorified outhouse.

I design a house if I feel like it and there's somebody that I feel like doing. I'm trying not to rush through like I did originally as that's what burned me out before.

I personally do try my absolute best to design them in that moment. Once they are done I have no plans to revisit them until I unlock all the features.

As some others have said here, I start outside then work inside until I'm happy with it. Though I do go back outside to really refine it if I feel like the inside went in a different direction that doesn't match the outside. That tends to happen a lot as the inside is definitely the priority.

While I'm excited to get to a lot of the features, I've been trying to take the DLC slow. I kind of want to avoid having to revisit houses cause that seems very time consuming. There's definitely houses I want to go back an add detail too but I've been trying to make my designs as detailed as possible to avoid that.
I've been doing this since the DLC came out and I've got 19 or 20 houses done. The progression is fun and I'm not in any rush, and for the most part I'm proud of lots of my designs. Some of them I got into and didn't really like the furniture selection, so I just do what I can and make a mental note to go back.
There's been 2 or 3 houses that I rush in to decorate the inside and have forgotten to decorate the outside. I might go back and do them when I get the chance. There was one house with a simple inside that I really prioritized decorating the outside on.

I have been taking it really slow on designing homes, as I really like to put major detail into them and perfectly get the theme/idea for the villager down!! But there have been a few houses i didnt care to try on and did bare minimum just for poki :l

I started out decorating appropriately, but I've found that my items feel too limited ... If I really like the villager, or their design idea inspires me, I will do the most I can do with what I have before I move on. If not, then I'll just zip through with changing wallpaper and flooring, open their boxes, place the items somewhere I like, then because I can at least do the hybrid flowers and such, I'll decorate their yard and pretty it up with custom paths.

I plan to come back when I've unlocked my catalogue fully, and I'll decorate for villagers I like the least, and then the ones I like more.

I've also been watching a YouTuber who's been livestreaming his HHP stuff, and he started making a storyline for everyone whose house he decorates ... I really like that, and now I kind of want to incorporate the same thing, haha. So now I'm a bit more hesitant to get too invested in any house until I've scanned in every villager, sorted out housemates, and finished decorating homes on my own island, and then ... I want to make my own storyline.

I’m spending a decent amount of time on each house I design, I definitely don’t want to rush through it so I do 1-2 homes per day. I like playing at this pace because I get burned out quickly with designing. The one thing I don’t spend a lot of time on is the home exteriors; I have no inspiration for the exteriors for some reason so I just do the basics (fences/path/trees) quickly and then spend most of my time on the home interiors.

Honestly it depends on the request. If I have to make something for a villager and I actually like the items I have to include. I will create a very detailed build and will thoroughly enjoy creating it too. However, I’ve I’m not interested in the theme or items I’ll still put effect into it but I won’t spend forever on it.

I’ve only done a few houses (I’ve just finished the school) so I expect that to change as I do more houses as I find the whole process very repetitive and if it weren’t for the new features and furniture I probably wouldn’t even bother with the dlc.

I've been taking my time with the decorating :) I just finished 30 projects yesterday and got the ending! I'm in no rush to unlock everything for this update/DLC

When I'm actually designing, what I do is pick the wallpaper and flooring and any rugs first, then I pick all the furniture I want to use and just toss them around the room, then I look at what I've got and slowly improve it. If I'm using partition walls or screens I tend to put those in at the same time as the wallpaper and flooring

I'm the exact same way. I used to think I was great at decorating exteriors but now I find myself struggling to be creative outside of putting down a bunch of trees, fences, bushes and calling it a day.

oh i am def taking my time with all of the houses, i even design parts of the outside as well like a path or flowers or trees or sometimes furniture depending on the theme. i like to decorate villagers houses nicely esp if the idea is inspo for me, sometimes i feel a little lazy when the idea isnt jamming with me as much as i thought it would, but besides that i try my best and it takes me at least 30 to 45 minuets per house lol
