When will Nintendo open the floodgates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Nintendo never promotes games in December for the next year. Unless it’s for an early January release like New Super Mario Bros. U this year on Switch. Which it isn’t the case here. I have to say. I don’t expect anything until the next Nintendo Direct in late January or early February.

I'm hoping we'll get something around Christmas, but it makes more sense that they will release more info about a month before the game is out. I'd love to get little pieces of information though, even without trailers or pics. I'm starving lol.

The September Nintendo direct was the last major direct of the year. Nintendo pretty much has a set schedule for those. We wont see a major direct until January or February 2020.

Their is the possibility of a Animal Crossing direct between then that focuses on only Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but I doubt that will happen. I think Nintendo will wait for January or February cause they will want to release the latest direct closer to release so that hype is back at full throttle for best possible sales.

Unfortunately, this seems the likeliest option.

As I had mentioned previously that they were going to start trickling info out monthly, it was confirmed this morning that Animal Crossing New Horizons will be featured at Nintendo Live 2019 in Kyoto next week, on the 13th and 14th.

How much info we actually get out of it remains to be seen however, but it's 100% confirmed to be there.

This is great news. Thanks for sharing! Hopefully some new information will be revealed.

I would love to have a Direct in December since I can't have the game for Christmas but sadly you are probably right. T-T

January. It’s after the holiday shopping season is over, and would be about two months before release, so it seems like the right time.

Oh, that sounds interesting, thanks for sharing this.

Also I assume that this is the Japanese logo of New Horizons which you can see in the tweet?
It's the first time that I see it.

the main thing i need to know is how many villagers can live on my island with me.... like i need to start planning out the lay out now! and at least I better be able to get my whole town from new leaf back

Just a little update on this:

According to the Nintendo of Japan Twitter account, they may be canceling this event depending on the course the typhoon takes.

This is a good reason why Nintendo won't add major weather events to the Animal Crossing games.

Oh noooo...I hope Japanese people will be okay, plus it is a large typhoon.

It seems to be a A Go as Nintendo of Japan tweeted about the event an hour ago reminding everyone of the time, along with some delays due to weather.

The New Horizons big is titled, and this is a machine translation, ""Uninhabited island migration package" briefing session".

No clear idea as to what it is exactly. Since it's listed under the "Photo Spot" section it might simply just be a photo booth.

Good, keep us updated !

Looking at the website now and I have my doubts any new content is going to be shown at this event. The photo booth is a side attraction and there's no ac content in the show itself.

With Pok?mon Shield/Sword out of the way, the path is now clear for Nintendo to start promoting Animal Crossing: New Horizons. But, I doubt it will start before January, unfortunately. Nintendo usually spends a lot on TV and YouTube spots for the holiday season.

I guess some of us will have to be content with "enjoying" the graphical trainwreck that is Pok?mon Sword/Shield until then (the AC and Pok?mon fanbase usually overlaps). I won't. I've returned to Skyrim to slay a few monsters on my Switch, and I will get Children of Morta in a few days.

I expect January or February. We haven't had a general Direct in between September and January since 2015 and I really don't expect an Animal Crossing Direct until we're closer to release.
