When you use amiibo villagers to kick another villager out, do the exteriors change?

I read that if you kick villagers out using amiibo cards, that you keep the old villager's house and it doesn't get replaced with a new one. Is this true? I don't like some of the way their houses look and I want the houses that go with the amiibo characters.

Like if I kick out Tank with Julian. Will it be Julian's exterior or will he just get Tank's exterior?

I've heard both yes and no, but I need to confirm with more people.

Yes, I've had villagers move in and out and their houses changed appearance for me. Some villagers have the same house design I think, so that may be why some people are saying no.

Yes. I kicked out Soliel and moved in Ankha. Soliel's house was red and Ankha's is yellow.
