tom nook has telekinesis. he uses his mind to move stuff, all of the kits are in his backroom. he's very skilled with his power so when you blink it's already in his greedy hands.

just be glad that it isnt the gamecube version. in that one the villagers would see something that they liked that you had in your pocket and literally steal it from you LOL! i remember having to run away from them just to keep my hard earned items!

They should just patch it in so he says "please take a kit on your way out". Then we could safely assume that when the screen swipes black between the transition, that you take one for yourself. It's just one of those things that they could have done better from the start, and it seems strange that they didn't. Lol.

but what they could do is remove the kits altogether & just use a crane to move the buildings to their new spots....
