So when I first got the game, for some reason I thought storage was unlimited, so kept everything. Now I'm on maybe the third or so house expansion, storage is full, and half the beach is covered in dropped items too. In previous games it was often hard to tell which items were orderable from catalogue and which weren't, so I'm worried to sell anything that I can't re-order. However it seems harder to tell in this game as some aren't orderable via catalogue, but are craftable. And I'm thinking I should sell everything I don't need but how do I make sure I don't sell something that I can't easily order or craft?? Is there a guide or something? And which items do you generally keep rather than sell - and why?

I have the full house expansion, just not paid off, so I basically have been throwing anything I think would be useful in there, even if I could reorder it. I'm considering limiting that to expensive/unorderable items though, I want to keep room for landscaping materials and event items.
This site lists whether an item is reorderable/craftable, if that helps.
I tend to keep too many clothing items... It'd be nice if they had a separate storage entirely for clothing, as they have so many nice outfits in this game that it takes up the majority of my storage LOL
Furniture I'm not using, wallpaper/flooring/carpets, toooons of clothing and accessories, and crafting materials and diy materials like picked flowers. I like my pockets to be mostly empty except tools and stacks each crafting item so I end up either selling or storing things. I still have a lot of storage left fortunately I sell anything I don't like much immediately because I buy a lot of stuff just to catalog.
lots of extra crafting material stacks and all my clothing.. i do also wish the clothing inventory would be separate..
i'm also such a hoarder and just keep everything when it comes to furniture or rugs and wallpaper.. i'm trying to be better about selling my stuff i know i'm not gonna use and can just reorder again if i somehow need it.
My storage is only about 430/1600. I keep probably one-two rows of each crafting material, favorite clothing items (If i doubt I'll wear it I sell/give away), few wallpapers/floor (only ones I think may be useful for my theme down the line), seasonal items relevant to theme (like cherry blossom things), a few extra tools that I often break (shovels, watering cans, slingshot) - lazy for crafting, extra seashells/cardboard (in case a camper requests it).
Items that are non-orderable that I just want to keep but may not use (bunny furniture set) I store on an extra character's inventory. Right now I have 4 characters including my main.
I have two towns though with separate themes so that also makes dividing up items that I like (asian vs western) easier between the two towns. Ultimately though, if it's orderable...get it out is my thing...because bells won't really be a concern in the longrun and I can simply order it if I really end up needing it. Chances are if it's clothing not registered into the 5 outfits then I don't need to be storing it. If I want to make something up for a new outfit I can order it.
what i suggest is to look through your catalog and jot down anything there that is labeled unorderable. if any of those things are in your storage, i would keep them. anything that can be reordered and you have no use for currently, i would sell.
as for me, my storage consists of clothes i want, items i plan on using in the future, materials, music, bugs and fish for when CJ and flick show up and unorderable stuff
